You’re in Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and you’re feeling hungry – but there’s way too much to do to sit down and eat a meal.  What’s a Disney fan to do?  Have no fear – grab and go foods are here!  Animal Kingdom has a variety of yummy foods you can walk around the park with, whether you feel like something sweet, salty or savory.  So, dig in – and start walking!

10. Chicken Nuggets

We love sitting in the prehistorically-themed Restaurantosaurus to eat a meal, but if you’re on the run, you can grab your food to go.  Our favorite pick is the Chicken Breast Nuggets.  They’re served with fries, there’s plenty for sharing, and there’s classic fried goodness baked right in.  It’s the perfect fuel for a day of Animal Kingdom exploration!

9. Chocolate Covered Frozen Banana

This grab-and-go classic is perfect for those hot summer days in Orlando!  It’s available at several ice cream stands throughout Animal Kingdom, and you’ll love the yummy blend of chocolate, banana and nuts.  Plus, a chocolate covered banana is still fruit, and that’s healthy, so it’s really a no-brainer…

8. Popcorn

We love Mickey’s special brand of gourmet popcorn!  Main Street Popcorn is fun to eat on the go, plus the bag makes it easy to save some for later.  Of course, because it’s pre-packaged, you could also grab some for the folks back home!  We’ve found some particularly – and appropriately – wild varieties in Animal Kingdom, sold at most of the shops on in the park.  Or, if freshly popped popcorn is more your style, stop by a snack cart for some buttery popcorn in a souvenir bucket.

7. Pineapple DOLE WHIP Cup with Rum

If you love the Dole Whip at Walt Disney World’s the Magic Kingdom, then you should try Animal Kingdom’s twist!  Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa offers the Pineapple Dole Whip you know and love, but with the magical addition of dark rum or coconut rum.  Go ahead, walk on the wild side!

6. Mickey Pretzel

There’s something so comforting about biting into a fresh, salty pretzel.  And serious bonus points if your pretzel is shaped like Mickey Mouse.  Several snack carts in Animal Kingdom sell these popular grab-and-go treats, both plain and with with cheese.  This is a snack that will definitely turn heads as you walk through the park!

5. Corn Dogs

We love these beauties as a grab-and-go snack.  Available at Harambe Market (technically under the Kids Menu, but we’ve never had a problem ordering these meals for adults, because it’s a quick service location), corn dogs are a fun favorite that lend themselves well to traveling!

4. Hot Breakfast Wrap

If you arrive in the park early enough for breakfast, but don’t fancy a sit-down meal, the Hot Breakfast Wrap at Kusafiri Coffee Shop is the perfect solution.  It’s full of delicious egg, sausage, spinach and goat cheese, and it’s ideally wrapped for traveling.  We love this breakfast on the run!

3. Elephant Ear

Walt Disney World guests looking for a fun on-the-go snack after breakfast hours can still head to Kusafiri Coffee Shop for this yummy, appropriately-named-for-Animal-Kingdom, item.  The Elephant Ear is a flaky, crunchy pastry with sugar filling, and the top is dipped in chocolate.  Warning – these satisfying on-the-go treats are huge, so prepare to share!

2. Seasoned Fries

If you find yourself between Asia and Africa with a hankering for a filling snack, stop by Mr. Kamal’s kiosk.  Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries may not be particularly Asian or African, but they are 100% amazing!  They are perfectly seasoned, and topped with sriracha (which is quite spicy, so get it on the side if you’re at all unsure) and tzatziki.  Plus, they come in a paper boat which makes them a great pick-me-up between meals for someone with no time to sit!

1. Cinnamon Glazed Nuts

Our favorite snack in Animal Kingdom is, happily, also the perfect option for walking around the park!  You’ll find warm Cinnamon Glazed Nuts at various snack locations throughout the park.  Our favorite has always been the pecans, but you’ll also love the almonds and cashews – you really can’t go wrong with these.  Snacking and walking never tasted so good.

About Jason Dick

Jason is a Disney addict. Walt Disney World trips are an annual occurrence that his partner has had to come to terms with. In between Disney trips, he spends his time running the theatre company he started in 2007. As Artistic Director, he picks musicals to bring to his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario Canada that have never been produced in the area. Traveling is definitely a passion and in addition to his trips to the happiest place on earth, he and his partner also travel the world, most recently to India and Nepal. A carnivore by nature, Jason loves the incredible amount of steakhouses Walt Disney World has to offer - they are always at the top of his list for each and every visit.
