While on a Walt Disney World vacation, there is no better way to stay close to the magic at all times than to stay in a Disney Resort. Disney Resorts can be considered value, moderate, or deluxe and range in theme from the South Pacific to the South West and New Orleans to turn of the century Atlantic City. No matter what a guest’s budget is or what kind of theme they prefer for their resort, there are plenty of perks that make staying on property a must do. Here are ten of the most incredible benefits of staying at a Disney Resort!

10. Extra Magic Hours –

Guests who are staying at a Disney Resort get exclusive access to Extra Magic Hours in the four theme parks. Generally one park opens an hour early for resort guests and a different park will remain open up to three extra hours for resort guests. These Extra Magic Hours are a great perk of staying in a Disney Resort as they offer up much lower crowds and wait times on popular attractions.

9. Booking FastPasses Early –

FastPasses can be utilized by every guest in the Disney Parks regardless of whether they are staying on property or not. However, guests who are staying at a Disney Resort can book their FastPass selections sixty days in advance as opposed to thirty days in advance for those staying off property.

8. Transportation –

Each Disney Resort has the easy option of complimentary Disney transportation to everywhere in Walt Disney World. Depending on the resort, transportation options can include buses, boats, ferries, the Monorail, the Skyliner, or a walking path. Disney transportation eliminates the need to have a vehicle on property and makes getting around a breeze.

7. Amazing Pools –

Each Disney Resort has its own swimming pool and some of them offer up over the top water experiences to be enjoyed by the whole family. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are home to Stormalong Bay which features a sand bottom pool and lazy river. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is home to a pool set at the foot of a massive Mayan pyramid complete with a water slide. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort offers up The Big Blue Pool with characters from Finding Nemo that the whole family can enjoy.

6. Dining Options –

Disney Resorts are home to a wide range of dining options including quick service food courts and fine dining experiences. Some great resort options to try are Kona Café at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans Riverside Resort, and Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

5. Charming and Unique Themes –

Each Disney Resort features its own unique theme which is enhanced by architecture, colors, landscaping, and background music. Guests can enjoy a pop culture trip through the decades at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, the charm of New Orleans’ French Quarter at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort, the elegance of the Victorian era at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and the rustic feel of National Parks at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. No matter what a guest’s preference is, they are sure to find a Disney Resort that fits their personality!

4. Friendly Staff –

Some of the friendliest Cast Members throughout Walt Disney World can be found at the front desks of the Disney Resorts. By staying on property, guests have access to the front desk twenty four hours a day and can receive help with everything from planning for the parks to making dining reservations.

3. Amenities –

Disney Resorts offer up lots of amenities including arcades, complimentary Wi-Fi, valet parking, online check-in, and laundry. Pretty much, no matter what a guest needs they can be sure to find it with ease at a Disney Resort!

2. Hearing “Welcome Home” –

This is my personal favorite perk of staying at a Disney Resort. This magical phrase is said by Cast Members to guests as they check in and when they return to the resort after a day in the parks. It’s a great small touch that makes guests really feel as though their Disney Resort is their home away from home.

1. Stacey –

I know I’m not alone in my ritual of immediately turning on the television and tuning into Must Do Disney with Stacey! Stacey is energetic, fun, and informative and resort guests can tune in and watch her explore the parks and share all of the must dos on a Disney vacation! While Stacey is not exclusive to Disney resorts, she does tie in the Disney resorts with the Disney theme parks wonderfully.

About Caitlin Kane

Caitlin Kane first started visiting Walt Disney World when she was two years old, and despite spending most of that trip quarantined with the chicken pox she managed to fall in love with the place. Visiting WDW every year since, she especially loves learning all about the history and small details of the parks and eating/drinking her way through the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival each fall. When she's not in Disney, Caitlin lives in New York and spends her time counting down the days to her next trip.
