Walt Disney World keeps getting better and better for Star Wars fans!  Since Disney acquired Star Wars-related rights, there have been a steady stream of Stars Wars-themed additions and improvements on property – there’s even a Star Wars Land and a Star Wars Resort in the works!  So, for any Star Wars fan planning a Disney vacation, we’ve gathered a list of 11 things you absolutely must do in Walt Disney World – both right now, and in the future.

1. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

Your first stop in Hollywood Studios should be the classic attraction Star Tours.  It’s a flight simulator that uses 3D video, audio-animatronics – and a stunning array of possible scene combinations, so that every time you ride can be a different experience!  You’ll encounter all of the characters made famous through Star Wars as you enjoy your tour on a Starspeeder – plus, there are some seriously fun photo opps at the entrance of the ride, and during the ride queue.

2. The VOID

We are thrilled The VOID recently joined the scene at Disney Springs. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire is an fantastic entertainment option at Disney’s Springs The VOID. Perfect for tweens, teens, and adults, The VOID is an ultimate virtual reality experience. Team up (or be teamed up) with four guests and go under disguise to recover the secrets of the Empire. The multi-sensory environment makes virtual reality feel like…well, REALITY! Star Wars fan or not, you’ll enjoy this one!

3. Star Wars Merchandise

Did you know that Star Wars is such a big deal at Walt Disney World that Disney Springs has an entire store dedicated to Star Wars merchandise?  It’s called Star Wars Galactic Outpost, and it’s bound to be a happy place for any Star Wars fan in your party.  You’ll find all things Star Wars here: Star Wars apparel, accessories, art, collectibles, toys, and much more.  The Galactic Outpost can be found on the west side of Disney Springs, where the previous D-Street store was located.

4. Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

Do you have young Star Wars fans (between the ages of 4 and 12) in your party?  If so, they’ll want to register for the Jedi Training experience (registration begins as soon as Hollywood Studios opens, at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost).  Lucky young guests will learn how to use the Force with the help of accomplished Jedi, and they’ll be able to practice their lightsaber skills – and maybe even face a Star Wars villain!

5. Create Your Own Lightsaber

Speaking of lightsabers – what Star Wars fan wouldn’t love to take home his or her own lightsaber?  Luckily, there are two locations on Walt Disney World property (Once Upon a Toy in Disney Springs, and Tatoonie Traders in Hollywood Studios) where guests can do just that.  And it’s not just any run-of-the-mill lightsaber – you can customize your very own design, or create one wielded by your favorite character.  It’s a must for every Star Wars fan in your family!

6. Star Wars Launch Bay

Come to the Launch Bay at Hollywood Studios to meet a variety of Star Wars characters (more are slated to arrive in the future).  You might come across Chewbacca and his fellow Wookiee, Kylo Ren, or even Stormtroopers – if you’re lucky, you may just catch their March of the First Order on Hollywood Boulevard!  In addition to meeting characters, you can also check out a ton of nostalgic exhibits with beloved Star Wars artifacts, including some fantastic life-size reproductions!  There are also interactive Star Wars games to play here, and of course, lots of one-of-a-kind merchandise.

7. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

If you’re looking to end your day at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios with a bang, stick around for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.  This evening show is certainly appropriately named!  It truly is a spectacle, involving projections, Star Wars movie scenes, a light show, and fireworks – and of course, it’s accompanied by the famous strains of the musical scores in the movies.  We can’t think of a better way for a Star Wars fan to end a day in Disney World!

8. Star Wars: a Galaxy Far, Far Away

This Hollywood Studios show brings all of the action of Star Wars to life, through live-action re-enactments of your favorite moments throughout the Star Wars movies (spoiler alert – you’ll even find scenes from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story here)!  It’s family-friendly, and it runs several times every day (check the schedule online for the day you plan to attend).  Characters you can expect to see include Rey, Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, BB-8, and Darth Maul.

9. A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party

If you’re looking to make your evening at Hollywood Studios even more spectacular (not to mention delicious!), make reservations for A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party.  Tickets include a variety of delectable Star Wars themed desserts and signature drinks (both kid-friendly and alcoholic beverages are available). Your dessert experience takes place in the Star Wars Launch Bay, and once it concludes, you’ll enjoy special reserved seating for the Galactic Spectacular Show.  Finally, your Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party wouldn’t be complete without a Star Wars souvenir!

10. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars fans will definitely want to visit Walt Disney World after August 29, 2019 when the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is unveiled.  This exciting, immersive new land is currently being built, and it will mirror a similar land opening in Walt Disneyland.  It promises to be out of this world!  We’re told that Galaxy’s Edge will be set on the planet Bantuu, and split into two very different areas – one for the Resistance, and one for the First Order.  There will be dining, an outdoor stage for live action shows, and much more!  Guests will feel like they’re actually part of the Star Wars universe (think Pandora – the World of Avatar, but Star Wars themed!).

11. Special Events

Star Wars fans in Walt Disney World have been lucky enough to enjoy various special Star Wars themed events over the years.  Many Star Wars fans enjoyed the previous Star Wars Weekends, where special guest stars from the world of Star Wars appeared.  While this event has been discontinued, fans can now celebrate Star Wars by attending Galactic Nights at Hollywood Studios.  It’s a specially ticketed event that’s really a huge Star Wars party – what could be better?  Guests (yes, even adults!) can put on their favorite Star Wars costumes and enjoy an evening full of themed entertainment and events (such as a scavenger hunt throughout the park), and of course, there’s always the chance to meet Star Wars characters.  We also love that because this is a special event, ride lines are short or non-existent!
