5 Reasons We Love Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival at Walt Disney World

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is one of my favorite events at Walt Disney World. Who doesn’t love the excuse to sample a ton of amazing food and wine options? The event is extremely popular with a ton of entertainment and events happening at the park, too. You also get to pair all of that with the fun rides and shows that are always at the park. The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival takes place in the fall. While 2020’s dates have not yet been released, we do have 2019’s dates to go by as August 29 – November 23. Here are the 5 reasons why we love Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival:

5. There is exclusive merchandise for the event.

For those of you that love to shop or collect various Disney items, then you are going to love the event-exclusive merchandise. There are purses and bags (yes, even Dooney and Burke), pins, lanyards, hats, shirts, mugs, figurines and so much more that are totally exclusive to the event. Some of the merchandise is also limited edition so you want to act fast so that you don’t miss out on any of the items that are you favorite. You will be able to find the items at various stands located in Future World as well as all around World Showcase.

4. The park is absolutely beautiful.

Epcot is always a beautiful park with so many sights to take in, but during Food & Wine, it is especially a beautiful place to be. The event takes place during the fall season, so the park is updated with fall colors, plants and topiaries to make for a beautiful backdrop to all of your pictures. The fall season can also be a little bit nicer than the summer season in terms of heat and humidity, so you may not only find the park to be gorgeous, but also more comfortable and enjoyable as you are walking from booth to booth.

3. There are regular musical concerts and performances.

The Eat to the Beat concert series is a popular addition to the Food and Wine Festival. The event features popular bands that perform musical sets during the event. Some performers that were included in 2019 were Sawyer Brown, Grace Kelly, Zach Williams, Lauren Daigle, Jimmie Allen, Boyce Avenue, and Southern Avenue… just to name a few! The schedule is set with a different band performing. Each group typically only performs for 2-4 days in a row on the schedule. It is a great time to dine and drink to the popular music.

2. The food demonstrations and events are tons of fun.

There are a lot of amazing demonstrations and events that you can participate in. There are cooking demonstrations, educational encounters, wine seminars, celebrity meet and greets, special meal options, etc. Some of these events are included in the cost of admission to the park, while some of the events are available for an extra add-on purchase. The add-on events are available to book online on the Disney website where you make restaurant reservations. It is recommended to book these as soon as possible, as many of them are gone extremely fast. Just note that you will have to pay up front for the add-ons at the time of booking, and not all add-ons are suitable for children.

1. The opportunity to try so many amazing wines and food.

There are over 40 different stands and kiosks throughout World Showcase during the International Food and Wine Festival. This is a huge opportunity to try the different wines, beers and cocktails from all around the world. Then there is all of the amazing food with ingredients and flavors that are native to their respective countries. You can map out what you have tried using the free Passports that you can grab at many of the locations. You can get stamps at the different countries and check off what you have tried, as well as your thoughts on the item so that you can remember what your favorites are. It makes for a great keepsake and a great way to keep track of what you have sampled and what is still on your list to try.

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
