6 Restaurants We Love At Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an absolutely beautiful park. Everything about the park is pristine and perfectly detailed. There is also a lot of special care and consideration given to the restaurants for the park and ensuring that each one perfectly fits the theme of the park and is a delicious experience for guests. Here are 6 restaurants we love at Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

6. Satu’li Canteen

The newest counter service hot spot is in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora – The World of Avatar. After your journey down river on Na’vi River Journey and flying on a banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage, the next best place to stop is Satu’li Canteen for a bite. The theming is a long ago an RDA (Resources Development Administration) mess hall that has now been decked out with a colorful array of Na’vi (Pandora natives) art and cultural items. You’ll find a great menu for lunch and dinner. Create-Your-Own-Bowl by choosing one protein, one base, and one sauce. Two pod selections – vegetable curry pods or cheeseburger pods – are also delicious! Don’t forget to try their Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse and Chocolate Cake. Plus, Satu’li Canteen is the birthplace of the mobile ordering. Order and pay for your food from the My Disney Experience app and pick up your food when you arrive. It’s awesome!

5. Flame Tree Barbeque

This is a classic quick service location at Animal Kingdom. You likely already know this location because you have smelled the amazing barbeque smells every time that you have walked past it! It really is as good at it is smells! You can get the ribs or pulled pork, or many of the other items that are on this unique menu. The seating is all outside, but you will definitely get views of many of the beautiful birds that are hovering around the area. It is definitely a delicious stop and one that we make almost every trip!

4. Harambe Market

This is one of the newest areas of Animal Kingdom. The Harambe Market has 4 different stands that each have their own unique African-inspired offerings that will have your mouth watering. Each selection can also be paired with an African beer or an African-inspired cocktail to perfectly fit the item. You have the options of meat skewers, sausage corndogs, ribs and various other delicious items. It is a great way to sample traditional street foods from Africa for a cultural and a culinary experience. The atmosphere is amazing with various performers and other entertainment moving about.

3. Rainforest Café

Talk about a fun restaurant! This one has animals that move and react to the storm that happens every 15-20 minutes. There are aquariums with beautiful tropical fish all over the restaurant, and even a huge fountain. The restaurant has you totally believing for a minute that you are dining in the middle of the rainforest. The menu is quite large with a little bit of everything and various cuisines. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, so it is perfect for any time of day. It is also at the very front of the park and can actually be reached from outside or inside the park, so park admission isn’t required to dine here. The gift shop is also an amazing place to look around since they usually have sales and pretty good deals on many items.

2. Yak & Yeti

This is definitely a favorite restaurant for us. This location has a quick service option as well as the table service. We have experienced both, but much prefer the table service option. You enter inside the restaurant and you may be sat on the main floor or, if you’re lucky, the second floor. The inside has amazing artifacts and treasures from Asia with so much to look at. From the windows you get views of the guests walking about Asia and enjoying the parks. The menu is a variety of Pan-Asian inspired dishes that are extremely filling and amazing. You have various combinations of noodle or rice bowls, ribs and various meats and amazing appetizers. You definitely don’t want to miss the desserts at this location. The wontons are one of my favorite desserts across property. They are so unique and satisfy any sweet tooth.

1. Tusker House

Located in Africa, this restaurant is a very unique dining location. For all services the meals are all you care to enjoy, served buffet style while Donald, Mickey, Daisy and Goofy make their way around the restaurant to interact with guests during the meal. The juice that is served at breakfast is one of my husband’s absolute favorite treats. He really loves it that much! For lunch and dinner, the meals are a sampling of African-inspired dishes. You have the opportunity to try many popular African dishes and spices, along with a large variety of meat and dessert options. The food is amazing and it is a really great experience. Everyone in the family is sure to find something that they will like on the menu, too!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
