6 Things You Will Love About Ohana At Walt Disney World

Ohana is one of my family’s top restaurants across all of Disney property. The atmosphere, service and amazing food keep us coming back time and time again. There is a breakfast and dinner service with two very different menus that are equally as exciting. If you have never eaten at Ohana, I highly recommend that you try to fit is into your next WDW visit. Here are 6 things that we love about Ohana, and you will, too:

6. You always feel like you’re “ohana”, and served that way.

“Ohana” means “family” and you definitely feel like family from the moment you get there. You are greeted by one of your “cousins” who lead you to your table. The staff has always been so warm and inviting, along with really playing up the family theme. This is also true for how the meal is served. The food is brought to your table and served family-style, with no menus. From the moment you sit down, you get to enjoy the offerings as they are brought to the table. Just remember to share!

5. It’s “All You Care to Enjoy”, table side.

Whether you go for breakfast or lunch, make sure that you show up hungry. Both meals are “all you care to enjoy” and you won’t be able to get enough. Either of these meals will fill you up enough that you would be able to bypass lunch, so that might even help you save a few bucks. The meal may be served family style, but your “cousin” will bring you more of any of the offerings that you wish. There is no getting up and cruising the buffet line, you get everything brought fresh to you to enjoy from the comfort of your table.

4. The location is beautiful.

The restaurant is housed in the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The resort is known for being one of the most beautiful resorts on Disney property, and the theme for the restaurant matches perfectly with the resort. The restaurant takes you away to a tropical paradise with amazing views of the rest of the resort and of Magic Kingdom and the other area resorts off in the distance. I always feel like I have been transported to a tropical location when we dine there, and the lei’s they hand out are a nice touch!

3. You can view Happily Ever After from the restaurant.

If your schedule allows, book a reservation about 45 minutes to an hour before Happily Ever After is presented at the Magic Kingdom. The restaurant has all windows on one side and directly faces the Magic Kingdom. This makes it is a great place to view the fireworks without the hustle and bustle of the crowds inside the park. The music is piped in, so you can see the entire experience unfold to the amazing soundtrack. This is our favorite place to view the amazing show beside actually standing on Main Street.

2. Amazing character and entertainment interactions.

At breakfast, characters come to your table for meet and greets. The characters that you may see are Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. They are dressed in their Hawaiian attire and you may even find them dancing around the restaurant with the younger visitors. During dinner, there is an amazing ukulele performer who hosts the evening with celebrations announcements and amazing musical entertainment while making their way around the restaurant. Both experiences are amazing and worth the visit. We have been guilty of eating at Ohana twice in one day, and it still gives you enough of a different experience at each meal.

1. It’s delicious!

We have been lucky enough to eat at the restaurant MANY times, and the food has always been top notch for both services. The bread at breakfast and tropical juice set the tone for an amazing breakfast to follow, and of course there are Mickey waffles! Dinner is hard to do justice with words. The appetizers are enough to fill you up and leave you satisfied all on their own (potstickers and the most amazing wings, and don’t forget they are “all you care to enjoy”). Then you enjoy vegetables and sides, and your “cousins” will bring around skewers of meat and grilled pineapple (you will want extra grilled pineapple for sure). The dessert is one of our favorite desserts on property, a delicious bread putting with ice cream and caramel. The food is definitely amazing and real Disney dining treat!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
