7. Pick The Right Category

The first thing that guests should look at when beginning to choose a Disney Resort is their budget. They should know how much they are able to spend on their accommodations and have a number in mind when doing their research. Disney Resorts are broken down into three price categories with Deluxe being the most expensive, Value having the best deals, and Moderate falling in the middle. Guests should also budget for the overnight resort guest parking fee. At Value resorts, this fee is cheaper per night than at Moderate resorts… with Deluxe resorts charging the most per night. Once guests know what their budgets will be, they can see which category it coincides with and then choose from only several Disney Resorts that fall under that category instead of two dozen.

6. Theme

Each Walt Disney World Resort is completely unique and features a theme that is immersive and beautiful. Guests can enjoy themes which take them everywhere from the African savannah and New Orleans’ French Quarter to turn of the century Atlantic City and the South Seas. With so many amazing themes to choose from, there is sure to be one that is perfect for each guest on their Disney vacation.

5. Location

The location of a Disney Resort is a very important thing for guests to consider when choosing a Resort. Those who spend most of their time enjoying the Magic Kingdom might want to stay in a Disney Resort on the monorail loop so that they are only minutes away from the park. Alternatively, guests who spend the majority of their time in Epcot might find it most convenient to stay in a Disney Resort on Crescent Lake which would offer them either a short walk or boat ride to Epcot each day. Knowing the location of a Disney Resort and if it will be convenient for their plans is a key thing for guests to consider while making a decision.

4. Size

The size of a Disney Resort is also a major factor in making a final choice. Some Disney Resorts are absolutely massive and feature many different areas and walkways. Others are much more compact and have everything centrally located for guests to easily have access at all times. Guests who are looking to really explore and enjoy their Disney Resorts might want to choose one that is larger in size and those who are looking for the convenience of compact size might want to opt for one of the smaller Disney Resorts. Just keep in mind that sometimes the larger the resort, the more you’ll find traveling groups such as cheerleader competition squads and other sporting groups.

3. Pools

Each resort in Walt Disney World features at least one amazing pool for guests to cool off in and relax by. Guests who are looking for the ultimate pool experience should opt to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort or Disney’s Beach Club Resort for access to Stormalong Bay which features three acres of lazy rivers, water slides, sand bottomed pools, and whirlpool spas. There are plenty of other mazing pools to be enjoyed throughout the Disney Resorts and guests should be sure to check them out before making a decision.

Depending on which Disney Resort guests are looking at, there might be access to monorails, buses, boats, ferries, Disney Skyliner or even a combination of options. Guests should consider which mode of transportation best suites them and take that into consideration when choosing a Disney Resort.

1. Dining Options

Guests who stay at a Disney Resort also want to have easy access to dining options so that they can enjoy meals and snacks while relaxing at their Disney Resort. Each Disney Resort features a quick service dining location and many also have full service options as well. Guests should consider how much they plan on dining at their Disney Resorts and how important of a factor that is while choosing the perfect Disney Resort for them!

Caitlin Kane first started visiting Walt Disney World when she was two years old, and despite spending most of that trip quarantined with the chicken pox she managed to fall in love with the place. Visiting WDW every year since, she especially loves learning all about the history and small details of the parks and eating/drinking her way through the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival each fall. When she's not in Disney, Caitlin lives in New York and spends her time counting down the days to her next trip.
