6 Reasons Why You Will Love Staying At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort is undoubtedly one of the most popular resort choices for Disney guests. This deluxe resort is a tropical inspired oasis with water views, beautiful grounds and lush gardens. It is a true island retreat. The amazing location and resort dining options make it a prize stay. Here are the 6 reasons why you will love the Polynesian Village Resort.

6. Flower Lei Welcome

First step off the Disney Magical Express bus you know this resort experience is something special. We were greeted with a happy “Aloha” and a tropical flower lei. The polynesian flair is everywhere! From the waterfalls at the entrance to the tropical clad Cast Members.

5. The Amazing Kona Cafe

How lucky are resort guests to have the Kona Cafe only steps away? Many Disney guests travel over to the Polynesian Village Resort just to dine here. Try out the banana stuffed Tonga Toast for breakfast or check out the yummy sushi bar for dinner. You must make a reservation and try it at least once during the stay. I was very impressed with the food and atmosphere.

4. Take the Monorail or Boat

The location of the resort is amazingly convenient to Magic Kingdom. The benefit of taking the monorail or a quick boat ride is worth the extra money. Spend less time on the bus and more time at your destination! This location makes it possible to bring young children back to the hotel for a nap or rest too.

3. The Castle View

The resort offers a view of Cinderella Castle like no other. The pool, club lounge, and many guest rooms have a great view. The water and lush tropical gardens make for a pleasing sight too! Nothing more relaxing after a long day in the park. I especially love the added benefits to the club level upgrade. In the club lounge you will enjoy complimentary wine and snacks while watching the fireworks over the castle. Take it one step further and book the new over water Bungalows at the Polynesian. Each one offers unobstructed views of the Lagoon and Cinderella Castle. Your own private plunge pool, back deck, and full kitchen makes for an exclusive stay.

2. ‘Ohana Character Dining

One of my favorite Character Dining experiences is ‘Ohana. You will dine with Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch in a family style fashion. The food is great and I love that you aren’t fighting it out at the buffet. Servers bring the food straight to the table so you can enjoy the characters. Characters only join in on breakfast so make sure to make your reservation early.

1. Dole Whip by the Pool

The first of two resorts (Pop Century is the second!) to serve a Dole Whip is the Polynesian Village Resort! For the Dole Whip fans this is a big perk. The expanded Lava pool pairs nicely with a cold dole treat. The Pineapple Lanai serves up Dole Whip’s until 11:00PM. This makes a perfect nighttime snack while watching the fireworks.

About Lauren Young

My name is Lauren Young.  My first trip to Disney was as a toddler before I could even remember Mickey and Main Street.  We've celebrated family reunions to first dates in the happiest place on earth! Fast forward to today where I enjoy seeing the magic of Disney World through the eyes of my three kids. I'm a proud Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer wife, stay at home mom of three under the age of 5, wannabe domestic goddess, a writer, and a southern Georgia peach thru and thru! Before my kiddos took over my 9 to 5 (or shall I say MY ENTIRE LIFE), I happily worked in the travel industry.  My days were filled with planning corporate retreats & beach weddings at a beautiful resort on the Oregon Coast.  Well I tossed the sand filled high heels and have fully embraced the spit up stained loungers life.  But a girl still has to make time for her other loves, right?  So in those spare minutes of the day you will find me blogging on my travel website, Swoon Me Away (www.swoonmeaway.com).  I also enjoy trying to be crafty, planning fabulous parties and daydreaming about my next Disney vacation!
