8 Things You Must Know About The My Disney Experience App

Smartphones have made planning your perfect Disney vacation a little bit easier. The My Disney Experience App is available on the iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphone. This real time planning tool can keep you updated with the park information you need to know. It’s really simple to use and even the not so tech savvy can figure out this straightforward App. Here are 8 things you need to know about the My Disney Experience App.

8. It is Free-

What’s there to lose? This useful App is free so why not download it and take some time to explore it. Disney did a great job creating simple menus and drop down lists that make it easy to browse.

7. Interactive Park Maps-

Why use an old paper map when you can have the park maps right on your smartphone? The App offers maps for all Disney parks as well as the ability to pinpoint certain attractions and restaurants. It will show you parade routes and meet and greet locations as well.

6. View PhotoPass-

The PhotoPass section of the App allows you to view all of your pictures taken by the Disney photographers. They also have a map view to check out all the locations where the cast members are snapping photos. You can also link your photos using the App as well.

5. Explore Attractions & Make Itinerary-

Every time you log into the My Disney Experience App you will see a list of your reservations and plans, including Fastpass selections. I love this feature because I can easily manage my itinerary from it. Your resort and dining reservations are listed. You can also add in additional plans like parades or shows you want to attend. Another neat feature is the Wish List, as you explore attractions you can add your favorites to your wish list. Just tap the little handy heart in the top right corner of the attraction you are viewing. This is a great way to compile your list of spots you must stop at on your vacation.

4. Buy Tickets & Link Magic Bands-

Purchase your park tickets straight from the App! Link and customize your magic bands from here as well. It really is so easy. I like to use the App to quickly check ticket prices too. It makes it easy to compare park hopper options and regular tickets.

3. Book & Change Fastpasses-

The FastPass+ system allows you to essentially make reservations for a shorter wait time for up to 3 attractions. The FastPass+ feature on the App allows you to use your smartphone to book your FastPasses. You can change and manage your reservations as well. This makes it easy to check openings while you are on the go. Ready for your next FastPass? You can now use the app to add a 4th FastPass after your first three FastPasses have been used. Once you finish your 4th FastPass you can select your 5th FastPass… and so on. If you don’t want to use the app, you can always visit a FastPass+Kiosk inside the park.

2. Make Dinner Reservations (and Order Food!) –

One of my favorite features of the App is the ability to book dinner reservations on your smartphone. Many of the most popular dining establishments at Disney book up very fast. Being able to check on dining availability on the go is a major perk. The search features match the ones you find on the full Disney website. You can filter restaurants by location, food type, or dining experience. You can also view menus on the App! Warning, this may become addictive. Plus… you can now use your app for Mobile Ordering of food and beverages from numerous quick service locations throughout Disney World property. Simply place your order, pay on your phone, and pick up your food from a Mobile Ordering window within the restaurant.

1. Check Current Wait Times-

If you only download the My Disney Experience App because of this one reason it will be worth it! Current wait times are displayed on the App for all attractions and meet & greets. This will save you so much time at the parks. We used this feature often on our last visit to Magic Kingdom. No need to walk across the entire park only to find out there is an hour wait time for your favorite ride. Take a check on your App before you head over.

About Lauren Young

My name is Lauren Young.  My first trip to Disney was as a toddler before I could even remember Mickey and Main Street.  We've celebrated family reunions to first dates in the happiest place on earth! Fast forward to today where I enjoy seeing the magic of Disney World through the eyes of my three kids. I'm a proud Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer wife, stay at home mom of three under the age of 5, wannabe domestic goddess, a writer, and a southern Georgia peach thru and thru! Before my kiddos took over my 9 to 5 (or shall I say MY ENTIRE LIFE), I happily worked in the travel industry.  My days were filled with planning corporate retreats & beach weddings at a beautiful resort on the Oregon Coast.  Well I tossed the sand filled high heels and have fully embraced the spit up stained loungers life.  But a girl still has to make time for her other loves, right?  So in those spare minutes of the day you will find me blogging on my travel website, Swoon Me Away (www.swoonmeaway.com).  I also enjoy trying to be crafty, planning fabulous parties and daydreaming about my next Disney vacation!
