Big things are taking place inside one of Disney’s more controversial theme parks.

A bustling street scene at a Disney theme park glows with autumn decor. Crowds walk along festive garlands and lights, while buildings with classic architecture frame a central ornate structure in the background.

Last year, Disneyland Paris Resort announced it would be renaming its Walt Disney Studios theme park to Disney Adventure World. This name is expected to give Disneyland Paris more breathing room when it comes to building and opening new rides, as Walt Disney Studios was built to feel like a Hollywood backlot, something that has grown dated.

Disney faced a similar problem at its Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida, with the company slowly eliminating remnants of the park’s original intended design of being a real shooting location for film and television.

Walt Disney Studios Park has notoriously ranked at the bottom among Disney’s theme parks, mostly due to its connection to this Hollywood backlot theming. The park itself is quite barebones when it comes to rides and attractions as well.

Disneyland Paris is now on a path to fix this, with the resort pouring a lot of time and money into Walt Disney Studios and developing numerous new lands and attractions. Guests have been able to watch as numerous areas and locations have closed down or been replaced entirely, with Disney now erasing the park’s original name, as confirmed by DLP Works on Twitter.

The original text that read “Walt Disney Studios” on the park’s main facade is now being painted over, with work well underway on Disney Adventure World.

When complete, Disney Adventure World will be home to several new attractions and lands, one of which will be inspired by Disney’s Frozen film franchise. Officially titled World of Frozen, this new area will look and feel similar to Disney’s other Frozen-inspired expansions seen at its international theme parks.

Also opening in the next few years is a new attraction based on Disney’s The Lion King. This new ride will be a log flume thrill ride similar to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, something Disneyland Paris has gone decades without.

The Disneyland Paris Resort opened in 1992 and remains the only Disney theme park in Europe. While featuring some of the same classic rides and attractions guests have come to know and love over the years, Disneyland Paris is a noticeably different experience than Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

The resort is famous for its alternate versions of classic rides, such as Hyperspace Mountain, an iteration of Space Mountain, and Phantom Manor, Paris’ version of Haunted Mansion.

Disney Adventure World will officially open in 2026.

Have you ever been to Disneyland Paris? Will you be taking a Disney vacation in 2025?

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
