Disney Suspends Princess Character Access at Theme Park, Meet-And-Greets by Invitation Only

Weeks after Disney restricted access to several character meet-and-greets, the invite-only experiences are “fully booked.” Sadly, Disney Park guests who didn’t plan ahead won’t have access to their favorite Disney Princesses.

In June, Disneyland Paris Resort introduced a Virtual Queue system for two of its most popular meet-and-greet locations: the Princess Pavilion at Disneyland Park and “Meet Olaf” at Walt Disney Studios Park. Instead of queuing in a standby queue, guests must sign up for a time slot on the Disneyland Paris Resort app.

Though this process can reduce the wait time for these character experiences, allowing Disney Park guests to grab a bite or take in other attractions instead of standing in line, it also excludes countless families. International and less tech-savvy visitors may not realize the process has changed until they arrive at Disneyland Park or Walt Disney Studios Park.

By then, it might be too late. According to Disneyland Paris Resort guests, both the “Meet Olaf” and Princess Pavilion Virtual Queues at Disneyland Paris Resort are filling up partway through the day, locking out anyone without a reservation or, as one sign describes it, a “royal invitation.”

On Tuesday, July 15, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @PixiedustDLP shared photos of signs explaining the Virtual Queue process in French and English. Both signs had been covered with “fully booked” labels, indicating that Virtual Queue reservations for the character experiences were no longer available.

A few weeks ago, the Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland and Olaf meet & greet in Animation Celebration were added to the virtual queue system on the official Disneyland Paris app. #DisneylandParis

“Dear Visitors, To hold court with a Princess, a royal invitation is requested,” one of the signs reads. “Please scan the QR code to book your private audience.”

Disneyland Paris Resort guests can still meet other characters without a Virtual Queue reservation. However, if meeting your favorite Disney Princess or Olaf is a top priority, be sure to sign up for the Virtual Queue the second you enter Disneyland Park or Walt Disney Studios Park. Registration is available after a Disney cast member has scanned your ticket at the park entrance.
