Things are changing inside Walt Disney World, with all four theme parks receiving everything from minor tweaks to full-on overhauls of classic lands. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, fans are preparing to say their last goodbyes to DinoLand U.S.A.

This prehistoric area has been a part of the park since it opened in 1998, though it’s always been rather divisive. Half of DinoLand closed permanently in January, with the rest of the land set to shut down on February 2, 2025, to make way for Animal Kingdom’s upcoming new expansion, Tropical Americas.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also seeing big changes, especially inside the park’s former Muppets Courtyard. This hub used to serve as the home of the Muppets, featuring attractions and restaurants based on Jim Henson’s classic crew of puppet creatures.

This area closed this summer to make room for Monstropolis, the park’s upcoming new land based on Pixar’s Monsters Inc.

However, Magic Kingdom is the most interesting theme park to keep tabs on at the moment, with all kinds of projects, big and small, happening at the park. Just recently, Disney wrapped up a rather curious project in Tomorrowland, ushering in a new era for a classic location.

After months of small updates, a new Cool Ship kiosk has officially been installed in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Cool Ship and Cool Scanner closed abruptly back in May. Shortly after their closure, both locations were dismantled. Fans were quick to notice the iconic red spaceship at the top of the storefront had been removed as construction continued.

This new location features a more modern look and brand-new style. Disney claims Cool Ship will return sometime this year on its website, though an exact date has not been revealed.

WDW News Today shared a new photo of the location on Twitter, revealing a revamped look for Cool Ship.

Before it closed, Cool Ship specialized in classic theme park snacks like popcorn and soda. It’s unknown if its menu will change once it reopens.

The original Cool Ship opened at Magic Kingdom as part of the park’s Tomorrowland 1994 refurbishment in 1994.

“Fuel up at this space-age stand featuring buttery popcorn and fluffy cotton candy,” says Disney when describing Cool Ship. “Then, before you blast off again, cool off with a refreshing beverage—like bottled water or a fountain drink.”

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"

  1. One more obstacle the people at the parks division have constructed to get in the way of people coming or going… such a waste.
