After Shutdown, Disney’s Update for EPCOT Location Begins Today

As of November 14, the EPCOT park at Walt Disney World Resort is forever changed.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, the popular trackless dark ride located within the France Pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase, had been a major draw for guests since it first opened in 2021.

Tucked behind the pavilion’s cobblestone streets and Parisian storefronts, the attraction invited guests into the whimsical world of Pixar’s Ratatouille, shrinking riders down to the size of a rat for a kitchen-side dash through Gusteau’s bustling restaurant. After four years of operation, Disney confirmed that the ride would undergo a brief refurbishment, marking November 9 as the final opportunity to experience it in its original 3D format.

The closure officially began on November 11, as the attraction temporarily went offline for scheduled updates. Disney’s refurbishment wasn’t limited to one element; the project represented a shift in the way the attraction would be presented going forward.

Imagineers have transitioned the ride from a 3D projection system, meaning guests no longer need 3D glasses, to a streamlined 2D experience. This change was seemingly designed to reduce long-term maintenance, simplify operations, improve accessibility, and enhance overall clarity during the show scenes.

The official Walt Disney World Resort website confirmed the changes being made at the popular EPCOT attraction.

“Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will experience a short downtime Nov. 10-13, 2025, and will return with enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery projected in 2D,” Disney wrote. “Remy’s fans will spot new props and lighting enhancements when they are added to the queue and attraction over the next few months.”

While the screens are the most notable update, the refurbishment also brings enhancements throughout the queue and ride environments. New props will be added to deepen the sense of immersion, and the lighting will be refreshed to modern standards. Additionally, the projection technology will receive improvements intended to sharpen visuals and provide more consistency throughout the journey.

Importantly, the story and physical layout remain completely unchanged. Guests can still join Remy as he scurries under tables, dodges kitchen staff, and leads riders along a chaotic but charming sprint through the restaurant.

Those who visited before the closure were seemingly among the last to experience the wind effects, water sprays, and classic 3D visuals that defined the ride’s opening years. But the four-day closure allowed Disney to prepare the attraction for its next chapter.

As of today, November 14, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will officially reopen at Walt Disney World, now offering its updated 2D presentation to EPCOT guests.

With the reopening, visitors to the France Pavilion will find a familiar attraction refreshed for the future. The heart of the ride remains the same–the charm, the kitchen chaos, the feeling of being whisked into Remy’s world–but the visuals and atmospheric touches have been subtly reimagined to offer a smoother, more accessible experience for years to come.
