Walt Disney World Resort guests visiting the Norway World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT will soon discover an enhanced food and beverage service option in the vicinity of the park’s popular Frozen (2013) themed attractions. The construction activity that has been underway for weeks has now revealed its purpose: a brand-new, permanent kiosk structure.
Mystery Construction Project Unveiled
The Norway World Showcase Pavilion has been full of temporary construction barriers throughout much of December, leaving EPCOT guests wondering about the project hidden behind the walls. Our friends at Inside the Magic first reported on the installation of new construction walls earlier this month, noting how the barriers created an expanded construction zone within the popular pavilion.
Those walls stretched across significant territory—beginning at the courtyard area in front of Royal Sommerhus, where Anna and Elsa greet fans, extending along a well-traveled walkway guests use to access restroom facilities, and continuing to the historic Stave Church building.
A close examination of the construction zone revealed that it encompassed the spot where a mobile snack and drink cart had previously operated. That cart’s offerings included beer selections, soft drinks, and standard prepackaged frozen treats identical to those available throughout Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs.
Walt Disney World Resort remained silent about the construction project’s objectives when the plywood barriers and protective scrims first appeared.
Permanent Kiosk Emerges in the EPCOT World Showcase
On Wednesday, reporting from WDWNT confirmed what’s been taking shape behind those construction walls. A permanent snack and beverage kiosk has unmistakably been constructed, marking an upgrade from the previous temporary cart setup. While some protective barriers have been dismantled, additional walls remain standing around much of the new structure.
The kiosk’s design elements pay homage to Scandinavian architectural traditions, incorporating distinctive wooden carvings and a gable roof blanketed with foliage. These aesthetic choices align seamlessly with the Norway World Showcase Pavilion’s existing buildings.
When Will It Open?
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t disclosed an opening date for the Norway Pavilion’s new Quick Service kiosk. The busy Christmas holiday period could present an ideal debut window, given the elevated guest attendance at EPCOT during that timeframe.
Menu specifics also await official announcement. Reasonable expectations suggest the permanent kiosk will stock similar treats and beverages to those the replaced cart provided. However, Walt Disney World Resort maintains the flexibility to modify or expand offerings when the location becomes operational.
