2026 Disney Dining Plan Shake-Up: Major Restaurants Return, But Critical Gaps Remain

As the clock struck midnight and 2026 officially began, the “Disney Dining Plan Panic” that gripped the fan community in late December has partially subsided. For weeks, travelers were alarmed to see dozens of the resort’s most popular dining destinations missing from the official 2026 list. However, a significant update on January 2, 2026, has seen over two dozen of those restaurants restored to the roster.

However, before you celebrate, take note: the list is not yet 100% complete, and some of the restaurants that have returned have introduced some sneaky new restrictions. Here is everything you need to know about the current state of the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) as you plan your 2026 vacation.

The Restoration: Who is Officially Back?

The primary reason for the initial missing list was the “Contract Dance.” Most restaurants at Disney Springs and the EPCOT World Showcase are operated by third-party groups (like Patina or Landry’s) rather than Disney itself. These groups negotiate their reimbursement rates annually, often waiting until the final hours of the year to finalize the agreements.

As of today, the following heavy hitters have officially rejoined the 2026 Disney Dining Plan:

  • Disney Springs: The BOATHOUSE, The Polite Pig, Chicken Guy!, Morimoto Asia Street Food, Splitsville Dining Room, and Earl of Sandwich.
  • EPCOT: Chefs de France, La Cantina de San Angel, and Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.
  • Resorts: El Mercado de Coronado y Rix Sports Bar & Grill.

This is a massive relief for those who value the “all-inclusive” feel of the plan, as these locations are among the most popular choices for using credits.

The “Still Missing” List: The High-Profile Holdouts

While the restoration list is long, a few of the most “Instagrammable” and high-value spots are still noticeably absent from the 2026 lineup. If these are on your “must-do” list, you may still need to budget for them out of pocket.

Current 2026 Holdouts:

  • Space 220 (EPCOT): This remains the biggest shock. The high-tech space elevator experience remains in limbo.
  • Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ (Disney Springs): A perennial favorite for southern comfort food, this location has yet to confirm 2026 participation.
  • Yak & Yeti Restaurant (Animal Kingdom): Although the Quick Service “Local Food Cafes” have reopened, the sit-down Table Service side is still awaiting confirmation.
  • T-Rex & Rainforest Cafe: These Landry’s-owned staples are often the last to finalize their paperwork and remain off the list today.

The “Lunch vs. Dinner” Trap: New Restrictions for 2026

Perhaps the most frustrating update for 2026 is the implementation of meal-period restrictions. For the first time, several popular locations are only accepting the Dining Plan for specific times of day.

Two glasses of pink berry cocktails with ice, garnished with blueberries and raspberries, sit on wooden coasters—a refreshing scene you might find at one of the Disney Springs Restaurants. Lemon halves and scattered berries complete the vibrant setting.

Important Note: If you dine at these locations outside of their allowed window, you will be forced to pay full price, even if you have plenty of credits left!

The Value Factor: Is the Plan Still Worth It?

With prices for the Standard Disney Dining Plan currently sitting at approximately $98.62 per adult and the Quick Service Plan at $60.48, many guests are doing the math to see if it makes sense.

The “Kids Eat Free” Game-Changer

The most significant factor for 2026 is the “Kids Eat Free All Year” promotion. Throughout 2026, guests staying at Disney Resort hotels can receive a free dining plan for children (ages 3–9) when they purchase a vacation package that includes a dining plan for the adults.

  • Adult Price (Standard): ~$98.62
  • Child Price (Standard): $0.00 (with promotion)

For a family of four (two adults and two children), the total cost of the plan is essentially halved. This makes the Disney Dining Plan an incredible value in 2026, even if you have to pay out of pocket for one meal at a holdout like Homecomin’.

Pro-Tip: How to Handle “Missing” Restaurants

If your heart is set on a restaurant that hasn’t signed its 2026 contract yet, do not cancel your reservation.

  1. Book the ADR: Make your Advanced Dining Reservation at the 60-day mark.
  2. Wait for the Ink to Dry: In almost every previous year, these “missing” spots have eventually been incorporated into the plan by late January.
  3. Check the Website/App: Look for the “Dining Plan Accepted” icon on the specific restaurant’s page on the Disney World website. Once that appears, you are good to go!

Final Verdict for 2026

The restoration of over two dozen restaurants on January 2 proves that the “panic” was mostly a timing issue. However, the new meal-time restrictions mean that 2026 is the year of diligent planning. You can no longer assume your credits are good anytime, anywhere.
