Disney’s Hollywood Studios has already had a busy year.
Guests can now blast off on Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, families can enjoy the newly opened Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! stage show, Star Wars fans can join Din Djarin and Grogu aboard updated missions on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure has finally returned to the park with an entirely new production.

Those additions would normally be enough to define a successful year for any Disney park.
But at Hollywood Studios, they may ultimately be remembered as the warm-up act.
That’s because some of the park’s most anticipated projects are still under construction, and Disney continues to hold back major details about several attractions that could dramatically reshape the park’s future. With D23 approaching and construction steadily moving forward, many fans are hoping the biggest announcements are right around the corner.
The Recent Openings Are Just the Beginning
There’s no denying that Hollywood Studios looks very different than it did even a year ago.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets transformed one of the park’s most recognizable attractions and instantly became one of the most talked-about rethemes at Walt Disney World. The addition of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! gave younger guests a brand-new entertainment offering, while the Smugglers Run updates brought fresh life to one of Galaxy’s Edge’s flagship attractions.
Even so, those additions largely updated existing experiences.
What’s coming next is something entirely different.
Disney isn’t simply refreshing attractions anymore. The company is preparing to introduce entirely new lands, new ride systems, new entertainment venues, and an expansive animation experience that could become one of the park’s most unique offerings.
If recent openings have represented Hollywood Studios’ present, the projects still waiting to debut represent its future.
Monstropolis Could Change Everything
No project better illustrates that future than Monstropolis.
Ever since Disney announced plans for a Monsters, Inc.-inspired land, anticipation has continued to build. Now that Disney has finally revealed more concept art and story details, excitement has only intensified.

The new land will transport guests to Monstropolis following the events of Monsters, Inc. (2001), allowing visitors to explore a city where monsters and humans are learning to live side by side.
At the center of the story is H.U.M.A.N. Day, short for Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice. Disney describes the celebration as an opportunity for guests to explore monster culture, interact with residents, enjoy unique food offerings, and discover what daily life looks like inside the famous city.
While that premise alone sounds promising, the biggest draw may be what Disney still hasn’t revealed.
The Door Coaster Is Still Keeping Its Secrets
For years, Disney fans have dreamed about experiencing the door vault chase scene from Monsters, Inc. in attraction form.
Soon, that dream will become reality.
Disney has confirmed that Monstropolis will feature a suspended coaster inspired by the film’s iconic door transportation system. The attraction will include a first-of-its-kind vertical lift sequence that recreates the sensation of doors being pulled upward into the vault.
That technical description has certainly generated excitement.
But Disney has shared surprisingly few details beyond that.
The attraction still doesn’t have a publicly announced name. Guests don’t know its storyline. Disney hasn’t revealed which characters will appear, how riders fit into the adventure, or whether the coaster takes place during the H.U.M.A.N. Day celebration.

In many ways, the coaster remains the biggest unanswered question at Walt Disney World.
And that’s exactly why so many fans are hoping Disney has more to share in the near future.
The Animation Courtyard Transformation Is Flying Under the Radar
While Monstropolis is grabbing most of the attention, another massive project is quietly taking shape nearby.
The return of The Magic of Disney Animation could end up becoming one of Hollywood Studios’ most beloved additions.
For longtime Disney fans, the name alone carries a great deal of nostalgia. This new version, however, will be much more than a recreation of the original attraction.
Instead, Disney is creating an entire collection of animation-themed experiences designed to celebrate the creative process behind Disney’s most famous characters and films.

Best of all, much of it still hasn’t opened.
Olaf Draws Could Become a Guest Favorite
One of the most anticipated experiences inside the new animation building is Olaf Draws.
The attraction will feature a brand-new Olaf Audio-Animatronic welcoming guests into an interactive drawing class experience. Guided by Disney artists and animators, visitors will learn how to draw beloved Disney characters while exploring the art behind animation.
Unlike traditional drawing experiences, the character lineup will rotate regularly, giving guests a reason to return again and again.
For a park that increasingly focuses on immersive storytelling, Olaf Draws feels like something refreshingly different.
It’s interactive, educational, nostalgic, and family-friendly all at the same time.
Off the Page Brings Disney Characters Into Their Own Creative World
Another major component of The Magic of Disney Animation is Off the Page.
Rather than simply lining up for character photos, guests will enter spaces themed around different stages of animation production.

Disney has already teased encounters with characters including Mulan, Rapunzel, Stitch, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Chip ‘n’ Dale.
Each area is designed to reflect a different animation discipline, creating a meet-and-greet experience that feels more immersive than what guests typically encounter elsewhere in the parks.
Drawn to Wonderland Adds Something Hollywood Studios Has Needed
The park is also preparing to debut Drawn to Wonderland.
Inspired by Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland artwork, the indoor playground will feature oversized environments, interactive play elements, themed exploration areas, and spaces specifically designed for younger children.
It may not receive the same attention as a major roller coaster, but families could quickly discover that it becomes one of the most valuable additions in the park.
Anyone who has visited Hollywood Studios during the summer knows the importance of finding an engaging indoor space where children can play while parents take a break.
Drawn to Wonderland appears poised to fill that role perfectly.
The Once Upon a Studio Theater Could Add More Disney Magic

The animation experience will also include the Once Upon a Studio Theater.
Guests will be able to watch Disney’s acclaimed Once Upon a Studio (2023) short film while experiencing additional effects that extend the storytelling into the theater itself.
Disney has hinted that characters may appear within artwork and other elements throughout the space, helping blur the line between the film and the environment around it.
Like several upcoming projects, Disney has revealed enough information to build excitement while still leaving plenty of surprises for opening day.
Could Galaxy’s Edge Be Next?
Even Galaxy’s Edge may not be finished evolving.
The addition of Din Djarin and Grogu demonstrated Disney’s willingness to continue updating the land after its debut. Disneyland has already introduced expanded character offerings and new storytelling opportunities throughout its version of Galaxy’s Edge.
While Disney has emphasized that the Florida and California lands will remain different, many fans believe Hollywood Studios could eventually receive additional updates of its own.
Whether those changes involve new characters, entertainment, or entirely new story experiences remains to be seen.
The Biggest Hollywood Studios News May Still Be Ahead
What’s most interesting about Hollywood Studios right now isn’t necessarily what has opened.
It’s what hasn’t.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets is already welcoming riders. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is entertaining families. Smugglers Run has new missions. The Little Mermaid has returned.

Yet the projects generating the most anticipation are still waiting behind construction walls.
Monstropolis remains largely a mystery. The Monsters, Inc. coaster still hasn’t revealed its story. The Magic of Disney Animation has yet to announce an opening date. Olaf Draws, Off the Page, Drawn to Wonderland, and the Once Upon a Studio Theater are all still preparing for their debut.
That’s what makes Hollywood Studios one of the most fascinating parks at Walt Disney World today.
The recent openings have been exciting, but they may ultimately pale in comparison to what’s coming next. And if Disney chooses to share more details in the months ahead, fans could finally get a clearer picture of a future that looks bigger, more ambitious, and more exciting than anything the park has unveiled so far.
