On Wednesday, a Walt Disney World Resort guest shared a video she took when her family was forced to evacuate Tiana’s Bayou Adventure after their ride vehicle began to sink. The Magic Kingdom Park guests were taken through a backstage area after the incident, which comes amid numerous reports of technical issues affecting the former Splash Mountain attraction.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been in the news for several reasons over the last few months, with reports of frequent ride breakdowns, audio-animatronic issues, and some components of the Walt Disney World Resort attraction “held together with duct tape.” Despite these allegations, the Magic Kingdom Park ride remains open, with no refurbishment scheduled.
The Disneyland Resort version of the reimagined Splash Mountain drew mass media attention last month when two separate children jumped out of the log ride at the top of the 50-foot drop on different days. A video showing the first teenager falling down the massive drop went viral; miraculously, he only suffered minor injuries. The Disneyland Park ride reopened shortly after both shocking incidents and is currently operating normally.
Family’s Log Sinks
The latest issue with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure occurred on July 29. Instagram user @mamamouseclubhouse shared this video of her family evacuating the log flume attraction after their ride vehicle began taking on water:

On July 30, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was “temporarily closed” for several hours, according to Walt Disney World Resort’s My Disney Experience app.
However, it’s unclear whether this was related to the sinking incident, which occurred at least a day prior.
Other Guests Share Their Stories
In the Instagram comments, several other Central Florida Disney Park guests shared their negative experiences on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. One user said their child hit her head on a lap bar when the attraction stopped suddenly.
“When we went it stopped, and my daughter hit her head on the bar really hard,” @kelsooooo30 wrote. “I was really worried, but she’s fine thankfully…@waltdisneyworld please don’t open it and let people get lightning lanes. It’s been doing this all summer. It needs to be properly fixed. We don’t care if you need a month.”
“I thought they would of fixed the sinking problem after the retheme,” said @morganacrews.
Despite the ongoing issues, there is no refurbishment closure scheduled for the rethemed Splash Mountain attraction.
