A Tuesday afternoon stolen vehicle report brought law enforcement into the backstage areas of Magic Kingdom Park — a part of Walt Disney World Resort that guests never see.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 1:54 p.m. on August 18 reporting a stolen vehicle in a backstage service area near Magic Kingdom Park, in the vicinity of the Disney University cast member training center. Scanner monitoring account @WDWActiveCrime shared the dispatch on X (formerly known as Twitter):

The backstage service area classification makes this call stand out from most of the scanner activity this summer at Walt Disney World Resort, which has largely been logged from guest-facing locations, including theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, and Disney Springs. A call originating from behind the scenes suggests the incident involved cast members, resort vehicles, or other backstage operations rather than guests in the park.

Whether the vehicle belonged to Walt Disney World Resort, a Disney cast member, or someone else entirely hasn’t been established. Whether it was recovered after the report was filed is also unknown. The Google Maps pin attached to the alert may not reflect the exact location of the incident — generalized coordinates are standard for scanner reports across Walt Disney World Resort property.
Neither Walt Disney World Resort nor the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has issued any statement about the situation. A police report or criminal charges would be the most likely avenue for additional details to become public.

The backstage location of Tuesday’s incident means Magic Kingdom Park guests almost certainly didn’t notice anything unusual during their afternoon at the park. Operations at the original Central Florida Disney park were continuing normally at the time of this report.
