Disney Tips Your Guide To A Great Disney Vacation
The countdown is nearly over for one of Disney’s newer nighttime spectaculars.
Nighttime entertainment remains a major part of the Disney park experience. At Walt Disney World, Happily Ever After transforms Cinderella Castle with projections and fireworks, while other resorts use fountains, lasers, drones, and pyrotechnics to close out the day.
Disney’s nighttime lineup is constantly evolving. Shows can disappear for seasonal replacements, lengthy refurbishments, or permanent changes, while individual parks often operate several different nighttime productions alongside one another.
Now, one relatively recent Disney castle show has reached its final weekend.
Disney Confirms Final Performance for September 14
Tokyo Disneyland will permanently end Reach for the Stars on Monday, September 14, 2026, bringing its run to an end just six days before its second anniversary.
The resort’s official schedule confirms performances at 7:15 p.m. on September 12, 13, and 14, with no further showtimes listed from September 15 onward. Disney explicitly states that Reach for the Stars “will no longer be presented after September 14, 2026.”
First launched on September 20, 2024, the Cinderella Castle spectacular combines projection mapping with lighting, pyrotechnics, and other effects. It was originally designed as a roughly 20-minute production centered on Disney characters pursuing their dreams. However, it failed to generate much positive buzz with Tokyo Disney Resort regulars when it first premiered.
Its character lineup stretches across Disney and Pixar, including Tinker Bell, Hercules, Dumbo, Mary Poppins, Carl Fredricksen, Aladdin and Jasmine, WALL-E, EVE, Baymax, and characters from Toy Story.
The production also marked a milestone for Marvel at Tokyo Disney Resort. Iron Man and Captain Marvel appear during the spectacular, with Marvel characters making their first appearance in an entertainment program at the resort when the show debuted.
For its final summer, Disney expanded the show into Reach for the Stars: Everlasting Dreams. The limited version has operated since July 2 and runs approximately 25 minutes instead of the regular 20.
The farewell edition adds an epilogue following the main show, complete with additional projections and the new song “Forever Dreams.” Disney also incorporated drones into the finale, forming images inspired by properties including Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Tangled, and Toy Story.
That means guests visiting this weekend are not simply catching the original production before it disappears. They are seeing an expanded version specifically created for its final months.
Once the September 14 performance finishes, however, the Cinderella Castle production is gone for good.
Tokyo Disneyland’s Nighttime Schedule Changes Immediately
The end of Reach for the Stars does not mean Tokyo Disneyland will go without nighttime entertainment.
Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights remains on the schedule. On September 14, Disney currently lists the parade for 8:25 p.m., following the final Reach for the Stars: Everlasting Dreams performance at 7:15 p.m.
The resort is also preparing to shift into its Halloween season.
Night High Halloween is a park-wide fireworks presentation lasting approximately five minutes, accompanied by Halloween music. Disney officially lists the seasonal production from September 16 through October 31 at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
Interestingly, Tokyo Disneyland’s September 15 daily schedule already lists Night High Halloween for 8:50 p.m., one day before the resort’s Halloween event officially begins.
From September 16, the nighttime schedule lists Electrical Parade Dreamlights at 7:35 p.m. and Night High Halloween at 8:50 p.m.
The Halloween fireworks are not a direct replacement for Reach for the Stars. Unlike the departing production, Night High Halloween is not a full Cinderella Castle projection spectacular and can be viewed from multiple locations across the park.
Regular fireworks show Sky Full of Colors, which has been on a three-month hiatus over the summer, is also unavailable throughout the Halloween season.
Disney lists the presentation as temporarily suspended from June 15 through October 31, with additional closure dates later in the year as it moves into its holiday celebrations.
