Frontierland is already in the middle of one of the biggest transformations in Magic Kingdom history, but Disney isn’t waiting for those massive projects to finish before making smaller changes around the land.
The latest replacement has now reached Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
According to reports from WDWNT, Disney World has replaced Tabasco with TapatÃo as the hot sauce option at the popular Frontierland restaurant. The switch comes as the same change begins appearing elsewhere around Walt Disney World, making this much more than an isolated adjustment at Pecos Bill.
Compared to everything happening around Frontierland right now, replacing a condiment certainly isn’t going to reshape anyone’s Magic Kingdom vacation. Still, regular visitors may immediately notice the difference the next time they stop for a meal.
And it comes during a period when seemingly everything around Frontierland is changing.
Disney World Replaces Tabasco at Pecos Bill
Guests visiting Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe can now find TapatÃo instead of Tabasco.
TapatÃo is currently the only hot sauce option available at the Frontierland restaurant. The change follows another recent sighting at ABC Commissary in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, indicating that Disney is rolling out the replacement across the resort rather than limiting it to one location.
For guests who regularly use hot sauce with their meals, the two options aren’t exactly interchangeable.
Tabasco Original Red Sauce relies primarily on distilled vinegar, red peppers, and salt, creating its familiar vinegar-forward flavor. TapatÃo includes red peppers alongside water, garlic, spices, and additional ingredients. The result is a thicker sauce with a noticeably different flavor profile.
The switch also arrives as Disney expands its relationship with Kraft Heinz.
Disney and Kraft Heinz announced a partnership in July, and new Heinz condiment dispensers have since started appearing across Disney properties, including Disneyland Resort and Disney Cruise Line. TapatÃo isn’t owned by Heinz, though the two companies have a distribution relationship.
That makes the Pecos Bill change another piece of a broader condiment rollout taking place across Disney destinations.
Frontierland Is Already Going Through Massive Changes
On its own, swapping Tabasco for TapatÃo is an extremely minor change. Put it against everything else happening in Frontierland, however, and it becomes another small example of just how different this part of Magic Kingdom is becoming.
Disney is currently transforming a substantial portion of the surrounding area for Piston Peak National Park.
The project follows the permanent closures of the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat in 2025. Those longtime Magic Kingdom experiences are making way for a completely different future for this section of the park.
Piston Peak National Park will introduce a Cars-inspired environment designed around the American wilderness. It’s one of several projects that will eventually change the western side of Magic Kingdom.
And Disney isn’t stopping there.
Disney Villains Land is also coming to this portion of Magic Kingdom. Disney has already revealed that the ambitious expansion will feature two major attractions along with dining, shopping, and an environment built around some of the company’s most famous villains.
Once those projects are finished, the area surrounding today’s Frontierland will look dramatically different from the version guests knew for decades.
Big Thunder Mountain Just Returned From a Major Transformation
Even one of Frontierland’s attractions that isn’t disappearing recently went through a lengthy transformation.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed in January 2025 for an extensive refurbishment that kept the attraction unavailable for well over a year.
The classic roller coaster finally reopened in May 2026, bringing one of Magic Kingdom’s biggest rides back into operation after the lengthy shutdown.
Disney used the refurbishment to make substantial updates rather than simply performing routine maintenance. The project included the return of Rainbow Caverns, adding another new element to the Frontierland experience while preserving the identity of Big Thunder Mountain.
Its reopening was particularly important considering how much construction is now taking place nearby.
Guests can ride Big Thunder Mountain again, but the Frontierland surrounding it remains very much in transition.
Even the Small Things Are Changing at Magic Kingdom
Nobody is going to confuse a hot sauce replacement with Piston Peak National Park or Disney Villains Land.
For many guests, the TapatÃo switch might not matter at all. Others who have always grabbed Tabasco during a Pecos Bill meal could notice it immediately.
That’s what makes this change worth noting.
Frontierland isn’t simply waiting for its next major expansion to arrive. Changes large and small continue appearing throughout the area as Disney prepares Magic Kingdom for its next era.
Big Thunder Mountain has already completed its lengthy refurbishment. Construction continues on Piston Peak National Park. Disney Villains Land remains on the horizon. Even Pecos Bill now has a slightly different lineup waiting for guests.
The latest replacement may only involve a bottle of hot sauce, but at a Frontierland currently defined by change, it’s one more familiar thing that guests won’t find exactly as they remember it.
