Disney park guests have been evacuated this morning due to a gas leak.
Disneyland Paris guests were evacuated from part of the resort on Tuesday, October 20, following reports of a gas leak near Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The incident reportedly prompted the closure of Central Plaza, the hub at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., which connects several areas of Disneyland Park. Guests were instructed to leave the area while emergency crews responded to the situation.
What Happened at Disneyland Paris?
According to reports shared on X, firefighters arrived at the scene after a strong smell of gas was detected. Central Plaza was reportedly closed to the public, with Disney’s Guest Flow teams working to redirect visitors and manage crowds around the affected area.
Despite the evacuation, the park’s four themed lands ā Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Discoveryland ā reportedly remained open. However, guests on Reddit described additional disruptions, including the cancellation of a parade and restricted access to certain pathways. One visitor claimed to have been evacuated from the parade route, while another reported seeing a fire hose near the castle.
The cause and precise location of the suspected leak have not yet been publicly confirmed. It is also unclear how long Central Plaza will remain closed or whether the incident will affect further entertainment scheduled for Tuesday. Disneyland Paris has not issued a public statement confirming the reported gas leak at the time of writing.

Central Plaza has since reopened to guests, with access restored as of 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday. However, one pathway remains closed as crews continue to respond to the reported gas leak, which earlier prompted an evacuation of the area.
According to the latest reports, the leak was traced to a location beneath a manhole cover between the Castle Stage and Central Plaza. While guests can once again access the main plaza, the affected pathway remains off-limits. It is unclear when the remaining restrictions will be lifted.
Past Incidents
This isn’t the first time a gas leak has disrupted operations at Disneyland Paris. In February 2007, hundreds of visitors were evacuated from Frontierland on two consecutive days after a leak was detected near Phantom Manor (the park’s equivalent of Haunted Mansion) and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. According to French newspaper Le Parisien, engineers traced the problem to an underground section of the gas network, with repairs scheduled after the park closed.

Disneyland Resort in California has also experienced gas-related incidents. In April 2021, a natural gas release was recorded at the resort’s Anaheim address, according to hazardous materials records published by the city. The report stated that gas escaped from a vent header outlet for approximately 15 minutes before the leak was stopped. No evacuations or injuries were recorded, and the cause was initially unknown.
And in October 2024, guests were evacuated from Pixar Pier and parts of Paradise Gardens Park at Disney California Adventure shortly before closing. Videos showed visitors being directed away from the affected areas, while other sections of the park continued operating. Some guests speculated that a gas leak had triggered the emergency response, although Disneyland never publicly confirmed the cause. The park subsequently resumed normal operations.
