Disney World Pulls Winnie the Pooh From Magic Kingdom Area, Effective November 8

Winnie the Pooh is one of the most beloved characters at Magic Kingdom, and meeting him is a must-do for countless families. For years, the honey-loving bear and his friends have welcomed guests at The Thotful Spot in Fantasyland, right next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It’s a familiar stop for Disney regulars, and many guests could probably find it with their eyes closed. But during this year’s holiday party, that’s exactly what could trip people up.

Disney has announced that Winnie the Pooh and friends will be moving out of their usual meet-and-greet spot during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Instead of The Thotful Spot, Pooh and his pals will greet party guests at Storybook Circus. So say goodbye to The Thotful Spot and hello to Storybook Circus, at least on party nights.

This change is definitely going to affect repeat guests. Many longtime Magic Kingdom visitors are used to heading straight to The Thotful Spot when they want to see Pooh. On party nights, those guests may be on autopilot and end up at the usual location, only to find that Pooh and friends aren’t there. Here’s what you need to know about the move, why Disney may have made it, and how to plan your party night.

Where to Find Pooh During the Party

According to Disney, Winnie the Pooh and friends will greet guests at Storybook Circus during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party from November 8 through December 22, 2026.

That covers every party night this season, from opening night through the final party.

Daytime Meet-and-Greets Aren’t Changing

If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom during regular park hours, you’ll still find Pooh in his usual home. Disney continues to list daytime greeting times at The Thotful Spot, so the move appears to apply only during party hours.

That means the same park could have Pooh in two different spots depending on the time of day. During the day, head to The Thotful Spot. During the party, head to Storybook Circus.

Details Still Unknown

Disney hasn’t shared exactly where in Storybook Circus Pooh and friends will greet guests. It also hasn’t said which of Pooh’s friends will be joining him.

Storybook Circus already transforms into Santa’s Christmas Carnival during the party. Santa greets guests in that area near Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Barnstormer. Adding Pooh would put two of the party’s most popular character meets in the same corner of Fantasyland.

Some fans are guessing that Pooh and friends could take over a space inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow, though Disney hasn’t confirmed that. For now, the best way to find the exact location will be to check the My Disney Experience app on party night.

A Little History on The Thotful Spot

The Thotful Spot sits next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland. Pooh and Tigger typically greet guests there during the day.

The meet-and-greet returned to Magic Kingdom in 2022 after being away for more than two years. Since then, the line has stayed long, especially on event nights when crowds are packed into Fantasyland.

Why Disney May Be Making the Move

There are a few good reasons this change makes sense.

The Thotful Spot sits along a busy Fantasyland walkway across from Mad Tea Party. Its queue doesn’t have much space to grow, so a long line can quickly crowd the walkway for everyone else.

That problem gets even bigger on party nights. Mad Tea Party gets a holiday overlay during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and draws its own crowds. With both lines in the same area, the walkway can get congested fast.

Storybook Circus has more open space and sits off the main walkway, giving Disney more room for a long queue.

Party Nights Are Busy This Year

Crowd control matters even more this season. Disney says 13 of the season’s 25 party nights had sold out as of late October. That includes opening night and every party night during Thanksgiving week.

Sold-out nights mean a packed park, so moving one of the most popular character meets to a roomier area could make the wait more comfortable for families.

Tips for Meeting Pooh at the Party

If meeting Winnie the Pooh is on your must-do list, here are a few tips:

  • Don’t go on autopilot. Skip The Thotful Spot during party hours and head to Storybook Circus.
  • Check the app. Look up the exact location and times in My Disney Experience on party night.
  • Pair it with Santa. Since Santa is also in Storybook Circus, you may be able to see both in one trip.
  • Go early. Lines for popular characters can grow quickly during sold-out parties.
  • Plan your route. Storybook Circus is at the back of Fantasyland, so factor in walking time.

A New Holiday Home for Pooh

Change can be confusing, especially for repeat guests who know Magic Kingdom like the back of their hand. But moving Winnie the Pooh and friends to Storybook Circus could help ease crowding and give families a better experience on busy party nights.

Just remember: during the day, Pooh is at The Thotful Spot. During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, head to Storybook Circus.
