Disney+ launched in November 2019, and the streaming service has pulled in millions of subscribers, outperforming Disney’s five-year plan within a year.
Malaysia and Thailand is the newest are Disney+ will push out to international. As Disney+ has surpassed 110 million total subscribers worldwide, with Disney+ only adding 1 million new subscribers in the United States. The majority of these new subscribers are from India, which makes up over a third of the subscribers globally.
This decrease in growth isn’t just a Disney+ issue but Netflix has also seen a slow down. Many believe this is because as the pandemic started, many quickly jumped on the streaming platforms and now that has evened out.
Disney+ might also be having issues because of the limited classics being added as well as the required premier access, requiring additional payments, turning people off.
What do you think needs to happen to help get more Disney+ subscribers?
