How To Make It

  1. Paint the heads, bodies and accessories separately before gluing them together. Prepare the characters’ accessories. Make a red hair bow for Minnie, a small red bowtie for Donald and a pink hair bow for Daisy. Daisy will also need a length of pink ribbon to wrap around her dress. Cut out thin black felt ears for goofy and Pluto. Cut a green ribbon collar for Pluto and set aside two mini white buttons for Mickey.

2. Mickey Mouse: Paint black (1) 1-1/4″ wood block and two 1″ x 1/8″ wood circles. Paint red one 1-1/4″ wood block. When dry, glue the black block on top of the red block. Use hot glue to glue the ears in place. Glue two white mini buttons on the front of the red block. When the hot glue on the ears dries, touch up over it with black paint.

3. Minnie Mouse: Paint black (1) 1-1/4″ wood block and two 1″ x 1/8″ wood circles. Paint red one 1-1/4″ wood block. Paint white polka-dots over the red. When dry, glue the black block on top of the red block. Use hot glue to glue the ears in place. When the hot glue on the ears dries, touch up over it with black paint. Glue a red hair bow to the top of the head between the ears.

4. Donald Duck: Paint white (1) 1-1/4″ wood block. Paint blue (1) 1-1/4″ wood block and one 1″ x 1/8″ wood circle. Paint a yellow stripe across the white block. Paint a yellow “V” shape on the blue block for a collar and a yellow stripe all around the bottom edge. When dry, glue the blocks together. Glue the blue circle hat on top of the head and a small red bowtie at the point of the “V” collar line.

5. Daisy Duck: Paint white (1) 1-1/4″ wood block. Paint purple (1) 1-1/4″ wood block. Paint a yellow stripe across the center of the white block. When dry, glue the blocks together. Glue a pink hair bow on top of the head and wrap a piece of pink ribbon around the top of the purple block.

6. Goofy: Paint (1) 1-1/4″ wood block black. Paint (1) 1-1/4″ wood block orange. Paint (1) 1-1/4″ wood block blue. On the orange block, paint a brown vest by painting two vertical stripes and then painting the bottom half of the block brown, leaving the center line orange. Paint a 1″ candle cup green and paint a black stripe around the narrowest part. Hot glue felt ears to the opening of the hat. Glue the hat with ears on top of the black block, then glue the black block onto the orange and brown vest block, then glue the blue pants block to the bottom.

7. Pluto: Paint (1) 1-1/4″ wood block yellow-orange. Glue a narrow green ribbon just below the center to make a collar. Glue felt ears standing straight up and curl the felt a bit to make crooks in the ears.

8. Paint the mini bird houses as desired. Turn them so that the holes face the wall and are not visible.

9. Arrange your winter village scene and add batting “snow” and/or mini lights for a wintery, festive touch.

Now you can enjoy your holiday village featuring your favorite Disney characters.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
