We are just days into the new year, but we already have some disappointing news coming out of Disney Springs.

There are exactly 100 shops located in Disney Springs — from places like World of Disney to Goofy’s Candy Company, The Art of Disney, Anthropologie, Corkcicle, the Coca-Cola Store, and more. Sadly, on January 2, one popular store will be closing its doors for good.

Alex and Ani — a store known for its gorgeous bangles — announced that it will no longer be in operation at Disney Springs. The move comes as the company closed nearly two dozen brick-and-mortar stores nationwide, as well as its headquarters in Rhode Island. The company actually filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy two years ago.

Alex and Ani is not the only Disney Springs store that is starting off the new year by closing its doors. The Art of Shaving also had its last day of operation on January 2. The upscale men’s store has been in operation at Disney Springs for the past eight years. Like Alex and Ani, it was a part of the reimagining of Disney Springs.

2023 also saw several long-standing shops close in the massive shopping, dining, and entertainment area. Sosa Family Cigars — which had been a part of Disney for 25 years, closed its doors last January. Then, in March 2023, the UGG store closed, after being in operation in Disney Springs since 2016. It will be replaced by Lululemon. Finally, in May, Melissa Clube — a store that sold jewelry made from recycled materials, also closed up shop.

Alex and Ani had actually taken over the space previously occupied by Melissa Clube in June.

If you have been to Disney World in the past eight years, then you are probably familiar with the area of the resort called Disney Springs. It is an enormous area known for its great shopping, dining, and entertainment. You are sure to get an incredible meal and get your Disney fix at the same time. Disney Springs was formerly known as Downtown Disney, but it underwent a massive transformation beginning in 2013.

We do not yet know what store will replace Alex and Ani.
