Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the home to an on-stage veterinary clinic. Â This is a really neat spot in Walt Disney World where you can watch procedures done live to help the animals that live in the park. Â The animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom receive top notch care. The veterinarians and vet techs work to educate guests on animal care through a live look at the type of care and procedures that the animals receive. Â We have learned that this on-stage area has now closed for a lengthy refurbishment. Â This area isn’t expected to re-open until mid-June with no specific date set at this time.

The refurbishment will be to enhance the experience by adding two CT (computed tomography) scanners, which will aid the veterinarians in animal diagnostics. Â This will make Disney one of the only two animal hospitals in a U.S. “zoo” to have CT scanners on hand. Â Don’t worry, while the on-stage room is closed, the animals will still receive the same care in rooms backstage! Â All other attractions at Rafiki’s Planet Watch will remain open for guests to enjoy during this time, too.
