Yesterday we announced that Typhoon Lagoon will reopen on January 2nd, 2022. This is the first time it will be reopening since Walt Disney World closed in 2020 due to COVID-19.
This is normal at Walt Disney World since temperatures can be much cooler in the winter months, and some Guests don’t want to go to a waterpark. One Park will remain open and one will close for a refurbishment and keep the water Park looking great.
Blizzard Beach opened back in March 2021 and welcomed Guests. You still have a couple days left to hit Blizzard Beach before the refurbishment, though. They will be closing on January 1st, 2022. There’s no word yet how long this refurbishment will take, but we will let you know when we hear anything.
Although sadly, Blizzard Beach will be closed for some time, we are very excited about Typhoon Lagoon reopening. We are looking forward to having a custom Dole Whip which, if you have never had Dole Whip before, you are missing out.
A popular slide at Typhoon Lagoon is Crush ‘n’ Gusher, and we know that many have missed that attraction.
Typhoon Lagoon has not forgotten that it is the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World and has a special treat just for the celebration. From Walt’s Chili Nachos, which offer a special twist on one of Walt Disney’s favorite meals, to the EARidescent Ice Dream Cone, a birthday cake-flavored soft-serve treat, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is home to a variety of delicious anniversary-themed treats.
We know that Blizzard Beach will return after some time, and we’ll be excited to have both water parks open sometime in the future.
