Characters in Flight at Walt Disney World Closing for Refurbishment

The huge helium balloon attraction located at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World will be closing from January 9 through January 13 for a refurbishment.  It is expected to re-open to guests on January 14.  The refurbishment will also include a brand new theme for the balloon. It is expected that the design for the balloon will more closely represent the new theme for Disney Springs, rather than the original Downtown Disney.

The Characters in Flight balloon is actually a tethered helium balloon.  Many guests assume that it is a hot-air balloon before they actually enjoy the attraction.  Since it is helium, the balloon has to be refilled every so often with new helium in order to keep the balloon able to operate safely and lift guests hundreds of feet in the sky over Disney Springs.  We are extremely excited to see what the new look for the balloon will be!
