We heard that there was a water scare at Disney’s Art of Animation resort on the evening of June 26th. A 5 year old child had an incident in the water that resulted in emergency services from the Reedy Creek Fire Department getting called in to help. The child ended up being airlifted out of Walt Disney World to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. We have since heard that the child is currently in stable condition and doing OK at the hospital.

The larger Disney pools do have lifeguards on duty during certain hours. There are smaller quiet pools that may not have lifeguards on duty or have as long of hours as the feature pools. Guests shouldn’t depend on the lifeguards to provide constant protection, since they are trying to watch over a large group of guests scattered throughout the pool area.
Unfortunately, incidents can happen in an instant, even at Disney World. Everyone has to pay extremely close attention to their surroundings, especially with such a high volume of kids around. Be sure to inform your kids of safety tips when they are in the water and in the theme parks. It could save you and your family from distress while trying to enjoy your Disney vacation.
We will keep you posted if we learn any updates about this situation.
