We heard that there was a water scare at Disney’s Art of Animation resort on the evening of June 26th. Â A 5 year old child had an incident in the water that resulted in emergency services from the Reedy Creek Fire Department getting called in to help. Â The child ended up being airlifted out of Walt Disney World to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Â We have since heard that the child is currently in stable condition and doing OK at the hospital.

The larger Disney pools do have lifeguards on duty during certain hours. Â There are smaller quiet pools that may not have lifeguards on duty or have as long of hours as the feature pools. Â Guests shouldn’t depend on the lifeguards to provide constant protection, since they are trying to watch over a large group of guests scattered throughout the pool area.
Unfortunately, incidents can happen in an instant, even at Disney World. Â Everyone has to pay extremely close attention to their surroundings, especially with such a high volume of kids around. Â Be sure to inform your kids of safety tips when they are in the water and in the theme parks. Â It could save you and your family from distress while trying to enjoy your Disney vacation.
We will keep you posted if we learn any updates about this situation.
