When you gotta go…you gotta go, and the Magic Kingdom is one of the busiest spots to do so at the Walt Disney World Resort. While it may seem silly, regulars at the Resort have their go-to restrooms that are typically less crowded (and cleaner as a result), and easy to get to, so when changes are in the works for them, you may want to be aware of it.

In a new permit filed in Orange County, FL, on May 3, 2023, Walt Disney Imagineering has submitted a Notice of Commencement for work on restrooms in the Magic Kingdom. Specifically, the permit notes that the work will take place at “MK-2 Restroom Building.”
Without further specifics as to exactly which restrooms could be impacted by upcoming renovations, an educated guess would lead us to Main Street, U.S.A. The first themed land Guests see as they enter the Magic Kingdom is home to several restrooms, on either side of Town Square near the Mickey Mouse character meet and greet location and near City Hall, as well as locations by Casey’s Corner and before the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.
Restroom buildings in the Magic Kingdom are numbered in proximity by how close they are to the entrance of the theme park, so while not specified in the permit, it looks like “MK-2” is the building next to Town Square Theater.

While renovations on Disney Park restrooms may not seem like a big deal, it is worth noting that Main Street, U.S.A. is home to some of the busiest restrooms in the Magic Kingdom. So if one building is closed, you may find lines at other restrooms in this area, especially during peak times for Main Street, U.S.A., like after the fireworks or Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade.
Which Magic Kingdom restrooms are best?
We covered the best (and worst) of Magic Kingdom’s restroom lineup in this article, but for a quick rundown here are some locations just outside of Main Street, U.S.A.:
- Tomorrowland Terrace: Located to the right of the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant as you make your way to Tomorrowland from Main Street, U.S.A.
- Cheshire Cafe: Located closer to Cinderella Castle as you walk toward Tomorrowland from Main Street, U.S.A.

The permit for work on the Magic Kingdom’s restrooms does not note what exactly is being done, so it is possible that it is routine maintenance and the Park will have all restrooms running again soon.
You can always find locations of open restrooms closest to you in the My Disney Experience app, or ask the nearest Cast Member which restrooms are closest to where you are in the Park during your next trip.
