While, for the most part, guests were incredibly happy to see all signs of COVID-19 leave Disney World, there’s one policy they’re glad for.
The COVID-19 pandemic left its mark on the world; the Walt Disney Company even noted recently they were still recovering from the effects of the pandemic. As we move back to our new normal, most of us have been glad to see all signs of COVID-19 leave Walt Disney World.
However, recently, one guest went online to ask fellow Disney fans, “Why Do Some Characters Stay Behind Fencing In Grassy Areas?”
Other Disney guests explained that the policy was one that was initially instituted during the pandemic to adhere to social distancing requirements: “It’s started during Covid but ended up being a pleasant surprise so they kept it for some characters since it’s much easier to ‘handle’ them when guests can’t approach them.”
Another Disney fan added, “It also gives the characters WAY more freedom to perform and entertain people than just standing in a fixed place, hugging kids and fumbling with autograph books all day.”
Can You Hug Disney Characters in 2023?
This said, guests can certainly hug their favorite Disney character at Walt Disney World in many parts of the Disney Park. Guests can hug, take pictures with, interact with, and get autographs from many Disney characters at Walt Disney World.
You can hop on the My Disney Experience app to find specific details of Disney character meet and greet locations for the day, as well as the timings for character sightings.
Do You Need a Reservation to Meet Characters at Disney World?
While you don’t need reservations, in particular, to meet characters at Walt Disney World, Disney recommends its Character Dining experience as one of the best ways to meet your favorite heroes and villains.
However, guests can also enjoy more traditional character meet ‘n’ greets as well as happen upon their favorite characters while strolling through the parks or during the parades and cavalcades.
Who are your favorite characters to meet during your trip to the parks? Tell us about it in the comments below!
