We are hearing rumors that Disney has filed another new patent impacting animatronics to be used in attractions in their theme parks. These changes would allow the animatronics to move, speak and react based on guest presence at certain locations. This would mean that the mouth and movement would sync up based on guest location so that it created a more realistic, perfectly synced experience. Additional upgrades are expected to include the ability to smile, blink and pose so that guest can take pictures and almost believe that the animatronic is real and interacting directly with them. This would make the animatronics the most updated version yet.

If you haven’t experienced the Frozen Ever After attraction yet, then you definitely need to check it out. This attraction has the latest version of animatronics prior to any of these new enhancements being developed. The faces and movements are the most fluid and realistic than we have ever seen. It is unbelievable to think that Disney will step up the game either further to create an even greater personalized and immersive experience. Disney never ceases to amaze me at the level of innovation and detail that they put into creating magical guest experiences.
What do you all think about these new developments for future animatronics? We will keep you posted as we learn more about these new developments and when we may see them in use at the theme parks.
