If you’ve visited EPCOT recently, you may have noticed changes while strolling around the World Showcase. Disney has recently been making some updates to the Morocco pavilion, including a new menu and fresh look at Spice Road Table Restaurant. You’ll also find changes in the shops. The changes started rolling in just after Disney assumed operations of the Morocco Pavilion. Disney Imagineer, Zach Riddley, has taken to social media to share the details and photos from his recent visit to EPCOT’s Morocco pavilion.

As shared via Zach Riddley Instagram: “I love walking EPCOT and seeing new work and details. I recently had a chance to meet up with Michael Wells, our EPCOT Art Director for @waltdisneyimagineering. Michael took me on a tour of the recent work we completed for the Spice Road Table at the Morocco pavilion. Our team refreshed the venue with bold colors and authentic touches like patterns in the character paint and propping. Moroccan markets are rich and layered experiences – where shopkeepers take pride in organizing their wares in beautiful, complex compositions of color, texture and form. Each shop is unique and dense, and it’s that sensory richness that makes visiting these markets so unforgettable. Michael and his team were inspired to bring that feeling to the new propping seen throughout the marketplace along the World Showcase promenade. One detail I really loved were these metal hand-painted street signs. You can find these all over the markets and souks in Morocco – where artists paint professions with these lovely illustrations translated with Arabic and French descriptions. I was surprised to learn these signs aren’t props – they are authentic items our team purchased in Morocco and brought back to EPCOT! Another example how we aim to bring the real world to life for our Guests through our designs. Ps. The “architecte” one is my personal favorite, of course!”

What do you think of the recent changes? They may seem small but really pop when you visit the Morocco pavilion. Spice Road Table is, in our opinion, now better than ever and still offers that perfect outdoor dining spot with water front views. Be sure to check it out on your next visit to EPCOT!
