Who doesn’t love a new attraction being built at Walt Disney World Resort? Especially something like a new Magic Kingdom ride?

Something New Coming?
With recent additions at international Disney Parks, such as Fantasy Springs coming to Tokyo DisneySea and the new Frozen-themed land at Hong Kong Disneyland, it’s only a matter of time before something new and exciting comes to the Orlando Castle Park.

But what is it exactly, and in what land? Good question…
Because the tease about a new attraction coming to Disney comes from a very unusual place…Roku.

Disney and Roku
For those unfamiliar with Roku, it’s a company that has dipped its toe in the streaming market. In addition to creating streaming sticks (similar to an Amazon Firestick), the company also makes televisions and has its own streaming service that is beginning to develop original content.

Although it is exactly as prominent as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime, it does seem to be gaining market share and increasing its presence year after year.

On Roku’s Instagram account yesterday (December 15), they posted an image of Roku City (a common screensaver for those who use the service) displaying some Disney magic. The digital display shows construction walls, just like those you would find at Disney Parks, along with a “Pardon Our Pixie Dust” message, Magic Kingdom-like light posts, and Tinker Bell.

The Roku City screensaver has been used multiple times to advertise various other businesses. Roku has teamed up with companies such as Carnival Cruises, LEGO, and the Barbie movie to incorporate multiple elements of those properties and logos into their screensaver.

But the new Disney-Roku partnership has many people curious. The caption on the post reads, “Something magical is coming to Roku City…”
What Does it Mean?
Many people have speculated what this unusual post could mean. Could it be a partnership with Roku to announce new attractions coming to the theme parks? Could it be a partnership between Roku and Disney+? Are they teasing new attractions? A new streaming app?

Or could it be just an ad campaign with no significant announcements? Who knows?

The design does appear to tease more of a park-related construction announcement than anything else. The planters, posts, wall designs, and use of Tinker Bell represent Magic Kingdom more than any other Disney Park (except maybe the original Disneyland).
