Wondering if Disney World Will Start Selling Annual Passes Soon? Think Again…

Are you a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder? If not, and you were hoping to become one, you may still be in for quite the wait before passes are once again available to purchase.

The Walt Disney World Resort paused sales of new Annual Passes amid the uncertainty of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. When each Disney Park and Resort reopened later that year, a theme park reservation system was introduced and sales of new passes remained paused with only renewals available to current Annual Passholders.

As of this writing, new Annual Passes remain unavailable to purchase, and while Disney has not yet announced a date for when sales will begin, the company has announced increased pricing for the passes. According to the new pricing structure for Walt Disney World Annual Passes, the most expensive pass, the Disney Incredi-Pass, will see a $100 price increase over its last rate from the beginning of 2020.

With a new pricing lineup set for Annual Passes, many fans have speculated that sales will be resuming soon. Even though we do appreciate the head’s up that the passes will be somewhat more expensive, it does seem odd to increase prices for a product that is not yet available.

With the exception of the recent price increases, the only indication we have for when sales of new Annual Passes could resume is information Disney has released. While not officially listed on Disney’s website, theme park reporter Scott Gustin did ask a spokesperson for the company when sales of Annual Passes could resume, but the answer is likely not what you were hoping for.

According to Gustin, the company noted that it does not anticipate sales of new Annual Passes to resume before the end of this year:

Given the theme park reservation system and heavy crowds anticipated during the holiday season, this might not be too surprising. It could be disappointing, however, for fans who might have gotten their hopes up just a little bit despite this morning’s news of price increases.

Currently, the only way to purchase an Annual Pass is as a renewal or very few options for Florida residents only. And for Guests who already hold Annual Passes, the past couple of years have been chaotic to say the least between changes due to the theme park reservation system and blockout dates, leading to a lawsuit against the company by some Annual Passholders.

We will continue to monitor updates to the Annual Pass program at Walt Disney World, and will be back with additional information as we have it here on Disney Tips.
