Disney Reveals New Character Interactions for Guests With MagicBand+ During the Holidays

The holidays have arrived at Walt Disney World and this season is set to be more magical than ever!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has returned to the Magic Kingdom for the first time since 2019, and the event has seen record ticket sales with only one date left with availability as of this writing. Candlelight Processional is back in EPCOT for the International Festival of the Holidays, and Disney Resorts are looking more magical than ever with the return of several beloved gingerbread displays.

At the beginning of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration, the Resort debuted the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection statues, which came with gold figures of iconic characters at each of the four theme parks. The statues have been an exciting addition to the Parks in themselves, but with the launch of MagicBand+ earlier this year, they have become even more magical.

During Halloween, Guests with MagicBand+ were able to enjoy special spooky season greetings from the character statues simply by waving their MagicBands. Now, Disney is offering a similar experience for the winter holidays.

Take a look at this video of the new interactions shared by theme park reporter Scott Gustin:

These interactions are only available to Guests who are wearing a MagicBand+. Earlier versions of the MagicBand will not have the same effect, so you may be looking at an upgrade. MagicBand+ has other capabilities too, including interactive elements in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and special effects during Disney’s nighttime fireworks spectaculars.

In other holiday news, we recommend making your theme park reservations asap if you plan to visit Walt Disney World between Thanksgiving in New Year’s Eve. Several dates already have limited availability, and we do not want you to be on the wrong side of a sold out Park!
