We have more interesting news with possible changes coming to Walt Disney World. Disney has confirmed that they will test a new program that will allow guests to only pay with electronic currency. The first phase of the program is set to take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The test will run from February 12th, 2018 through March 30th, 2018. During the test of this program, no cash will be used for payments throughout the resort. Guests will be able to use their credit, debit and Disney gift cards. They will also be able to use their MagicBands as well as other electronic payments like Google Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay. We don’t know at this time if other resorts will also go through the test program or if it will just be limited to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
For guests that want to use cash when they travel, they can still do so. They will just have to make a deposit with their cast at the front desk and then the funds will be added to their account. They can then use those funds on purchases via their MagicBands. Guests will still be able to use cash for tips at the restaurant locations, bell stand, etc.
What do you all think of this new program? Do you prefer electronic or cash purchases when you travel?
