Refurbishments are necessary for running Disney Parks, but they can be disappointing when your favorite attractions are closed during your vacation.

Several refurbishments are now on the calendar for this summer that you may want to know ahead of your next trip to “The Happiest Place on Earth,” especially as many of the closures could impact your time in Fantasyland.

Upcoming Fantasyland Closures

According to Disneyland’s official website, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland will all be closed for refurbishment this summer, beginning June 5, 2023. As of this writing, Disney does not list a reopening date for the attractions, and rather refers Guests to continue to check back on the website and app for later updates.

It is certainly odd to see three attractions shut down for a refurbishment at the same time in one area of a Disney Park as refurbishments are usually spread out so that there is still enough for Guests to enjoy in each themed land.

The upcoming Fantasyland refurbishments all beginning on June 5, are likely because Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland all share the same show building. (It may not appear this way from Fantasyland, but backstage the three attractions operate within the same structure.)

Unless an attraction is closing permanently to become something new altogether, Disney does not often disclose exactly what work is taking place during a refurbishment. With three of these rides closing at the start of the summer season, though, it is possible that an area of the building is in need of repairs.

The only other attraction closure set for Disneyland Park during this time is Splash Mountain, which is closed for  the foreseeable future as work is underway to transform the log flume ride into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, an all-new experience inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009).
