Guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be able to interact with the themed land in a different way than ever before within any of the Disney parks. Guests will be able to play on a Star Wars: Datapad for an interactive experience through the Play Disney Parks mobile app. Guests will be able to use the app to turn their mobile device into their own Datapad and find several tools that they can leverage to explore planet Batuu.

There is the “hacking” feature where guests will be able to interact with certain door panels, droids, etc. to see their memories. Then there is the “scanning” tool where guests can peek inside cargo crates to see what is inside. There is also the “translation” tool to help guests understand Aurebesh, which is the written language of the Star Wars galaxy. There is the “tuning” feature where guests can tap into and decrypt signals from antennas or other communication devices and hear the secret messages.
Guests can also use the Datapad to join in “Outpost Control” which is a game across the entire land where you choose to support either side. Winners can even earn galactic credits in the game.
While in line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, you can take on a job for Hondo Ohnaka, who operates Ohnaka Transport Solutions out of Black Spire Outpost. You can help reroute misplaced cargo and other activities.
Guests can download Play Disney Parks from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store ahead of their visit. Currently Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open at Disneyland Resort on May 31st, 2019 and at Walt Disney World Resort on August 29th, 2019.
