Disneyland Resort is a magical destination that has enchanted guests for many years. But, when a Disney fan spots a random head on an old attraction – well, magical turns creepy.

Nestled in Anaheim, California, Disneyland Resort has two world-renowned theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, as well as hotels and the Downtown Disney District. Guests can embark on a journey to discover the wonders of the Disneyland Resort, where dreams truly come to life.

The “Happiest Place on Earth”

Disneyland Park is Walt Disney’s first Park. This Park is often referred to as the “Happiest Place on Earth.”

Guests can stroll down the iconic Main Street, U.S.A, and spot Sleeping Beauty Castle. Fans enjoy being transported to a realm of wonder and imagination, with classic attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, “it’s a small world,” and Indiana Jones Adventure, just to name a few.

While we might know it as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some strange happenings that occur from time to time.

Of course, guest behavior can be a major downfall at the Parks– especially as of late– but there are also stories that have followed the theme park in folklore for years. Now, there might be another one unfolding.

Transformation Underway

In 2023, Disney closed Splash Mountain permanently at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Splash Mountain’s removal is to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will be themed to the Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog (2009).

When the attraction opens later in 2024, its boats will traverse the mysterious and winding waterways, passing by enchanting scenes and encountering familiar characters from the film, including Louis the trumpet-playing alligator and Ray the firefly.

The animatronic figures and intricate sets immerse visitors in the heartwarming story, making them feel like they are part of Tiana’s world.

A Splash Mountain Mystery

Shortly after the closing of Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park, Splash Mountain Archives tweeted about the head that Guests have been talking about. This head has been sitting behind the lighting for Brer Fox’s lair, apparently since May 2022.

The tweet notes:

“During the final 2 weeks of Splash Mountain’s operation, a mysterious head mold could be seen sitting behind the lighting for Brer Fox’s lair. It was confirmed by a friend of mine that it had been there since May 2022 #SplashMountain #Disneyland #WaltDisneyWorld”

Here’s another close-up of the head:

Whose Head Is That?

So, whose head is that? Fans are perplexed. Some respond to the tweet by saying things like, “why does this terrify me so.”

Another commenter says, “Y’all don’t know there’s so many dark stories behind Disney World? I’ll never wanna go.”

One person suggests it’s an audio-animatronic face, saying, “It’s definitely an AA face. Even has the silver screen eyes for the projections. Think like Olaf from Frozen Ever After. Just animated eyes instead of whole dang faces. I don’t recognize the face though. Of course it’s Disney feminine but idk who that is.”

We agree that at least it’s not a real human head!

Fans are still determining whose head rests within the former Splash Mountain.

The big question now is whether Disney will leave the head there or remove it as they work to construct Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, taking its place.

This mysterious head is something that we’ll certainly have to be on the lookout for when Splash Mountain reopens as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure later this year.
