The legacy of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical (2006) is nothing short of remarkable, giving rise to a delightful array of two sequels, a spinoff film exclusively for home viewing, and an exciting adaptation in the form of a television series tailored for the enchanting realm of Disney+.
With its triumphant journey thus far, it’s no wonder that a multitude of devoted fans have fervently championed the cause for a fourth installment, one that many had hoped would reunite the iconic original cast, including the likes of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Monique Coleman.
Yet, amidst the fervor and longing, the 15 years following the curtain call of High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) have left us with naught but whispers about the possibility of another cinematic masterpiece — until recently, when it was announced it would be streamed exclusively on Disney+.
Here’s The Twist…
High School Musical 4 is a fake movie that takes place in the middle of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019)…
Imagine the thrill of nostalgia meeting the excitement of the present as the stars we’ve grown to adore from the iconic High School Musical movies step back into their beloved roles. Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Kaycee Stroh, Bart Johnson, and Alyson Reed are all set to breathe life into their original characters once more, all in the name of a tantalizing project titled High School Musical 4: The Reunion.
… Only to have it take place fictionally within the middle of the spinoff series on Disney+!
Let us be honest here; It’s a clever ruse, a brilliantly woven mirage nestled at the heart of the ultimate season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
While the prospect of witnessing this reunion movie unfold might tickle your fancy, the truth is that it’s an artful fabrication, a splendid trick that regrettably won’t grace our screens in its entirety.
Will There Ever Be A High School Musical 4?
It is hard to believe that it has been 16 whole years since the first High School Musical debuted on Disney Channel in 2006…
Do you really think they can get the entire band back together for a REAL fourth and final film? I’m being both a pessimist and a realist, given the age of the cast.
Let’s all think about it for a second here… wouldn’t it be quite weird having 30-40-year-olds pretend to be high schoolers?
I guess we never know what Disney executives have up their sleeves. There has been, and definitely will be, a great demand for a fourth film featuring the original cast after this teaser “movie” occurs in 8 part season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
