These days, the modern Disney Princesses seem to be all the rage — but how is that supposed to make classic Disney heroines like Cinderella feel? Disney Princesses get to examine that question in an original song and musical number from Pixel Playhouse!

In the song (shown below), Disney Princesses like Ariel, Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel, Mulan, and Tiana all unite to comfort Cinderella as she debates whether or not she has a place in the modern Disney community (since her original Disney princess movie ends with her marriage to Prince Charming).

“A Hot Prince Hopped My Way”

The princesses take Cinderella aside and point out the empowering portions of their own stories. Princess Ariel the little mermaid, for example, emphasizes that she wanted to be on land more than she wanted to be with Prince Eric — and that either way, it was still her own decision and involved defying authority figures like King Triton.

“I work towards my goals each and every day,” Princess Tiana explained in her own conversation with Cinderella, “how could I not notice when a hot prince hopped my way?” Princess Tiana is obviously referring to her Disney prince here: Prince Naveen of Maldonia, who serves as her love interest in her Disney princess movie!

This unofficial Disney Princess musical and comments like Tiana’s are particularly relevant now, since the upcoming Snow White film has started a heated online argument between Disney fans regarding whether or not a Disney heroine is allowed to desire “marriage and motherhood” anymore.

“Brawny or Bridal?”

Rapunzel actually points out the years of childhood abuse that she and Cinderella have both overcome, while Mulan declares that every princess’s story is valid whether its themes are “brawny or bridal.”

“We make different choices and that’s all right,” the princesses sing as they frolic in the forest.

“There are so many morals to imbue. There are so many stories to be told just so long as they all feel true to you,” the Disney Princesses sing in the final chorus — right before Merida’s comical appearance at the end of the song!

Merida might be an official Disney princess, as well, but she makes it clear that she doesn’t sing!

Many Disney fans have responded positively to this unofficial Disney Princess musical. “There’s so many ways to be a woman,” one YouTube user commented.

Another fan confessed that they feel like they are required to be “girl-boss like,” but that they actually “try to be kind-hearted, gentle, and sometimes [dream] of romance” instead.

We have seen many Disney Princess fans defending classic heroines like Snow White and Cinderella (not to mention Princess Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty or Briar Rose) as of late, particularly due to the upcoming Rachel Zegler movie, and the positive response to this video seems to prove that the average Disney fan does indeed still love the classics!
