Walt Disney World announced that Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom would be closing on November 1st, 2021, for refurbishment. It makes sense that it will be that time of year to do any refurbishment that may be needed in the winter months. Although it doesn’t get as cold in Central Florida as other parts of the country during those months, it still could be too cold to be on a water ride. It is normal for them to close for a few weeks in the winter for basic refurbishments. The opening date has not been announced yet.
Some facts about Kali River Rapids. Opening day was March 18th, 1999. This ride has a 30 foot drop and lasts 5 minutes. Each boat can hold 12 riders, and there are up to 20 boats at a time. Make sure to bring a poncho or a change of clothes because you will get wet on this attraction. All Guests must be at least 38 inches tall to ride. There are lockers available outside to rent if you would like to keep your items dry. In Central Florida in the summer, it might feel good to ride a water attraction since we have extreme heat and the sun beating down on you. We also have random rainstorms that happen, especially in the summer months, so if you get caught in a downpour as long as there is no lightning, this could be your perfect time to ride.
If you are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom after October 1st, 2021, you can see one of the additions for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. Disney KiteTails will be taking the sky and will be a show unlike anything else. There are also Fab 50 Characters all over the four theme parks, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is no exception. Make sure to find as many as you can.
