Kali River Rapids Reopening Date

Water rides can suffer extra wear and tear, which is why they seem to undergo refurbishment more often than some other rides. Kali River Rapids is a fun water adventure that is located in Disney Animal Kingdom’s Asia. It has been closed for refurbishment since November 1.

We now know the date that Kali River Rapids is scheduled to reopen. On the Walt Disney World website, there are no times listed for the ride through December 15. On Thursday, December 16, the hours the ride is expected to run are from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

On that date, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will open at 8:00, so the ride will not be operating at Rope Drop, or to Early Entry Guests.

One thing that you need to keep in mind is that just because the date is listed on the Walt Disney World website does not mean that it will open again that day. If the refurbishment ends early, Disney could decide to reopen Kali River Rapids early.

The flip side is also true. Sometimes things do go wrong, and a ride won’t reopen when originally scheduled. Disney takes safety seriously, and will not reopen Kali River Rapids or any ride if the work hasn’t been completed to their satisfaction.

November and December are the best months of the year for Kali River Rapids to close, because the ride is a popular way to cool off during the hot summer months.

Raft Down a Rip-Roaring River

Skim across an erupting geyser, drift below a canopy of lush vegetation and be whisked along fast-moving rapids. Graze gushing waterfalls and bedrock amid the raging current. Then, as the harmony of nature is disrupted, you’ll plummet down a dramatic 20-foot slope!

You Will Get Wet

You will surely get splashed on this attraction—and you may even get soaked. Guests wishing to remain dry are encouraged to bring a waterproof poncho, extra clothes or a towel to dry off.

Lockers for mobile devices and other items you want to stay dry are located across from the entrance to Kali River Rapids and are available during your ride (on a first-come, first-served basis).
