One of the additions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the brand new show Disney KiteTales. With so many new attractions and shows that opened for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World this is one that some may overlook. I wanted to check it out to see what it was all about. You can find the show in the theater that formerly housed Rivers of Light on the Dinoland USA side. Keep in mind this is an outdoor theater, but there are a few select shaded areas if you can grab them early. This is also a great spot to see some of the cavalcades go by in the water. The Discovery Island Drummers entertained Guests while everyone waited for the show to start.

Cast Members were in the crowd with stick puppets and gave them out to kids to let them be a part. They would march around the stands, and you could see everyone enjoyed it.

Guests fill the outdoor amphitheater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, eagerly watching as KiteTales’ vibrant performers in colorful costumes dazzle by the shimmering water stage beneath a sunny sky, their excitement and joy immortalized in unforgettable photos.

There are two different versions of the show. I saw the one inspired by The Lion King, featuring kites of Simba, Zazu, and more. If you’ve seen the show only once, you want to see it again because the second version is inspired by The Jungle Book, featuring kites of King Louie, Baloo, and more. I was very impressed by the show. Cast Members go by on jet skis, and it’s incredible the control they have over these kites. One funny thing is the way they land the kite. There really is no other way, but they have to crash it into the stands, but don’t worry, nobody is sitting in that section.

This is something different that I enjoyed. It may not be the flashiest show that Walt Disney World has ever done, but it is great quality entertainment. There have been some technical difficulties with the show, so please be patient with everyone. Like we said before, this is an outdoor theater, so weather can be a factor, and shows may be canceled with little to no notice.
