Live Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Arrives at Walt Disney World

Disney’s latest live-action remake, The Little Mermaid (2023) hits theaters everywhere beginning today, May 26, 2023. To kick off the new release, Disney Parks have officially debuted a packed lineup of new experiences based on the remake of the original 1989 Walt Disney Animation Studios film.

Little Mermaid Character Meet and Greet

Ariel, as portrayed by Halle Bailey in the studio’s latest remake, is officially greeting Guests inside Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Disney Parks Blog shared that the queue leading up to the new meet and greet will be backed with concept art and information about the development of the new film. By the end of the line, Guests will reach the meet and greet themed to a terrace at Prince Eric’s castle.

Times for The Little Mermaid meet and greet, as well as the exhibits and short film on Walt Disney at Walt Disney Presents will be listed in the My Disney Experience app.

The Little Mermaid-Inspired Sweets & Treats

The new character meet and greet experience is not the only update that’s arrived at Walt Disney World with the release of the new film. New this week, Disney World has revealed several exciting snacks, sweets, and trees, all taking their cues from the new version of the timeless animated classic.

Bubbles at Sea is a drink special available at several locations across the Resort, using a mix of Gold Peak sweet green tea, lemon juice, pineapple and guava topped with boba pearls, and a splash of shimmer. Moving on to Disney Springs, Amorette’s Patisserie is serving up a new caramel sea salt pop adorably themed, The Little Mermaid Pop.

The Magic Kingdom’s Friar’s Nook is home to the Divinely Diabolical, a cookies and cream shake inspired by none other than the sea witch Ursula. And nearby, Guests can try the Part of Your World, a new DOLE Whip option made with DOLE Whip Strawberry swirled with purple cheesecake flavored soft serve, at Storybook Treats.

Last but certainly not least, Hollywood Scoops at Hollywood Studios just added The Little Mermaid Donut Shake to its menu for a tasty treat made with a mango-guava-ginger milkshake topped with whipped cream and a pineapple-mango seashell donut.

PhotoPass Magic Shot

A new PhotoPass Magic Shot featuring The Little Mermaid is now available at the Magic Kingdom. To get the shot, visit the Disney PhotoPass photographer stationed near Prince Eric’s castle, aka the Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction in Fantasyland.

The Little Mermaid stars Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer‑King as Prince Eric, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Awkwafina as Scuttle, in addition to Halle Bailey as the title character. The film hit theaters today, May 26, 2023.
