We previously announced a new Guardians of the Galaxy themed attraction would be coming to Epcot. This week Bob Chapek, the Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman, shared details about the new ride system for the attraction. This new ride system and ride vehicles will be a new design than what we have seen in other Disney Parks attractions. “On most coasters, the vehicles point straight ahead throughout the ride,” Bob explained. “But on this attraction, each individual cab will be programmed to direct your eye to the story happening around you. Guests will be immersed in all of the story of the attraction rather than passing by a variety of scenes.

The new attraction will also be one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters when it opens. It will be located within the Future World area of Epcot in the location where Ellen’s Universe of Energy used to be. There were 960 trucks full of concrete that were poured to make the foundation for the attraction. The inside of the building for the attraction will be so large that four Spaceship Earth attractions could fit inside of it.
Currently the attraction is set to officially open in time for the 50th anniversary celebration for Walt Disney World Resort, happening in 2021. Of course we will keep you posted as we learn more.
Who else is excited for this amazing new attraction?
