With COVID-19 numbers spiking and spreading like wildfire through the country, it is hard to avoid positive cases all around. Although Walt Disney World is a magical place and there are multiple safety protocols, it is impossible to keep COVID out 100 percent.
Unfortunately for the Disney College Program, they are reporting an outbreak of COVID-19 Omicron Variant cases, causing these Cast Members to quarantine. It is tricky to do since the Disney College Program Cast Members room together, and they want it to spread as little as possible to other Cast Members.
Sources wished to remain anonymous, but many college program Cast Members housed in Flamingo Crossing have been moved to nearby hotels. They try to keep everyone who had a positive case together to limit the spread.
There have been dozens of call outs in all different locations around Walt Disney World. This is difficult since the week between Christmas and New Years is one of the busiest times a year at the parks. It is not a good time for a limited number of Cast Members to go to work.
In March 2022, the College Program had been put on hold, and Cast Members were sent home. This was very disappointing since many college students dream of being a part of this great program.
This past June, Walt Disney World had finally brought back the College Program, and students could return to work.
There are lots of protocols still in place at Walt Disney World, including face coverings being required indoors and on all sources of transportation. Everyone can do their part to stop the spread, and if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to COVID-19, get tested and don’t go to the Park until you know you’re in the clear.
