A vacation in Walt Disney World is a magical thing complete with lots of attractions to enjoy, resorts to relax at, dining locations to try out, and shopping experiences to indulge in. With so much to see and do, packing some essential items can make the difference between getting the most out of your vacation and suffering from some small inconveniences. Efficient packing is the key to getting through a Disney trip with no incidents and making sure that guests are always prepared. Here are ten packing tips for the perfect Walt Disney World trip.
1. Comfortable Shoes
I can’t preach enough about how important it is to pack comfortable shoes. There is a deceivingly large amount of walking involved in a Disney vacation from getting around the parks to even just walking from a resort room to the lobby. Comfortable shoes are a must have to avoid blisters, chaffing, sore feet, and crankiness. Guests should be sure to pack shoes with plenty of support that have been thoroughly broken in to avoid problems. It’s a great idea to also pack a backup pair of comfortable shoes just in case there is rainy weather and the first pair is soaking wet.
2. Extra Clothes
Over-packing can be a big issue nowadays with all of the airline weight limits, but packing a few extra pairs of clothing is a must for a Disney vacation. Guests can encounter unexpected rain storms leaving them soaking wet, accidental spills leaving stains, or even just the need to get out of sweaty clothes and into something clean. All of these scenarios will make guests thankful that they have some extra clothes on hand.
While the Florida weather can be beautiful, sometimes those blue skies disappear in an instant and a massive thunderstorm rolls through. An absolute must for packing for a Disney vacation is to include a poncho. While guests might end up with great weather and never use them, they’ll be thankful they threw ponchos into the bag on a rainy day in the parks.
4. Filtered Water Bottle
Walt Disney World can get hot with temperatures easily reaching the nineties in the summer months. A key item to pack for a perfect Disney vacation is a refillable water bottle with a filter. Staying hydrated in the parks is super important, and why pay for endless bottles of water when guests can simply pack a refillable one? An option with a filter is recommended since some guests find the taste of Florida tap water to be a little strange.
With the high temperatures and the strong sun, wearing sunscreen at all times in Walt Disney World ensures that guests avoid getting sunburned and feeling miserable while on vacation. It makes sense to pack sunscreen at home instead of buying it in the parks as guests can then be guaranteed their preferred brand and save a few bucks as prices are higher once on vacation.
6. Extra Memory Card
There is nothing worse than finding out that all of the vacations photos have either been corrupted or accidentally deleted thanks to a faulty card. Packing an extra memory card for a camera ensures that if something were to happen, the cards could simply be switched out and taking photos could be continued. While memory cards are available for purchase in some locations in Walt Disney World, packing one from home can save money and time.
It’s a great idea to pack a handful of band-ids before leaving for a Disney vacation. From unexpected blisters to scrapes and bruises, a band-aid can save the day when something unexpected happens. Having a couple on hand at all times can save time spent heading to First Aid and procuring a band-aid there.
This one seems straightforward, but you would be surprised how many guests simply forget their sunglasses and find themselves purchasing new ones in the parks! With that bright Florida sun, sunglasses are a must when packing to both protect eyes and make exploring the parks more enjoyable. Be sure to also pack a case that the sunglasses can go into at nightfall each day to avoid misplacing or scratching them.
9. Garbage Bag
A great item to pack to make life a little easier in the resort room is a garbage bag with a drawstring. At the end of each day, guests can simply dump their dirty clothes into the garbage bag to make sure that they don’t get mixed up with the clean clothes or left behind at the end of the vacation. Plus, packing to go home is a breeze when all you have to do is put the garbage bag in a suitcase!
10. Body Glide
No matter what shape a guest is in, after sweating and walking about the park all day chaffing can be an uncomfortable and miserable issue. Packing an anti-chaffing product like body guard is a great idea as it can simply be rolled onto afflicted areas to avoid any further irritation or blisters and make for a much more enjoyable time in the parks.
