Pocket Guide to Disney’s Polynesian

Credit: Disney

Sometimes, deciding what Walt Disney World Resort to stay at can be a little overwhelming. Have you ever considered Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? Lisa Mendillo shared with Disney Parks Blog a Pocket Guide about this Resort:

The islands are calling you at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the next stop on our planDisney Pocket Guide tour. This resort celebrates the spirit of the South Pacific, while at the same time offering guests some of the most amazing views of Magic Kingdom Park.

Just in time for the 50th anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort, this iconic resort now offers reimagined rooms inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Moana.” Spectacular room views are available at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and rooms can sleep up to five adults, with suites sleeping up to eight adults. Need more room for your party? Disney’s Polynesian Bungalows are the perfect solution. Complete with a full kitchen, spacious living and dining areas and a washer and dryer, this truly is your home away from home. And with washers and dryers, can you say no laundry when you return home?

planDisney Tip: We highly recommend a stay at the overwater Bungalows. The gentle sound of water around you will give you a great night’s sleep after a busy day in the parks!

When it comes to transportation, this resort offers several convenient ways to travel, including the Monorail and its newly-updated station. Guests may also enjoy a refreshing water taxi ride to Magic Kingdom Park or Walt Disney World Bus transportation to other theme parks and Disney Springs. All transportation options mentioned are complimentary for Walt Disney World Resort guests.

planDisney Tip: The Walt Disney World Monorail System operates from 30 minutes prior to earliest park opening until one hour after latest park closing.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort definitely does not disappoint when it comes to dining. Let’s start with two words … Tonga Toast. This divine delicacy and many other tasty items can be found at Kona Café, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Another planDisney favorite is ‘Ohana. Located in the Great Ceremonial House, this restaurant offers family style meals with a uniquely themed dining experience. Quick service is available at Capt. Cook’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And oh yeah, you can get Tonga Toast here too! However, we can’t talk about food and beverages at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort without mentioning Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Enjoy refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in this oasis while fun and surprises await you!

planDisney Tip: The entire family can enjoy a visit to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto from opening until 8:00 PM. After 8:00 PM, only Guests 21 years of age or older may visit.

An island oasis would not be complete without water, so how about two amazing pools? Get ready for a splashing good time at the Lava Pool, complete with a towering volcano, waterfall, and 142-foot-long waterslide! The zero-depth entry to the pool will have you feeling like you are truly at the beach. Tranquility more your speed? Be sure to grab a chair and your favorite book at the Oasis Pool. This is the perfect pool to unwind and relax.

planDisney Tip: In the evening, visit the Pineapple Lanai to grab a yummy DOLE Whip treat before taking a seat on the beach for a beautiful view of the nighttime fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park.
